Physical Appearance Information:
Hair Color: Silver Eye Color: Blue Height: 6’0” Build: Athletically Balanced
Other Appearance Information: Standing at just a hair over six feet in height and weighing just under 170 lbs, there doesn’t really seem to be anything obviously special about Ethan Lynch. He sports an athletic build that favors a healthy balance of speed and power, appears to be in his late teens or early twenties, has medium-length silver hair, and is almost always seen with a toothpick or even a lollipop in his mouth. This often makes him appear like a lazy bum or hoodlum to those he meets at first glance, which is then made worse when combined with an expression that’s always sleepy, daydreaming, or aloof. His lazy tendencies only add to the troubles. One would almost never guess that Ethan is actually a highly-trained Agent of the Pokémon Rangers’ Pursuit and Capture Division. It’s almost a perfect disguise. Or it would be if it actually were a disguise.
As far as clothing is concerned, Ethan’s favorite outfit consists of khaki cargo shorts, hiking boots or sneakers, a white T-shirt under an old dark green jacket, a bandana of the same color covering his hair, and a pair of fingerless black gloves. There is also a white Pokemon Ranger emblem in the middle of the bandana. He also keeps a large survival knife sheathed over one shoulder for easy and quick access. Once again, and aside from the bandana and knife, his choice of clothing hardly seems to fit the part of a Pokémon Ranger. However, he does also have a more traditional Rangers’ uniform for when he needs it, but he hardly ever wears it while out in the field. The main reason is that he feels it would tip off any targets that he’s currently pursuing, but he also just hates to wear “formal clothing” as he calls it.
Ethan also wears a necklace made from a very old gold coin, though he chooses to keep it under his shirt where it can’t be seen easily. It is literally nothing more than a gold coin with a small length of cord tied through the loop on top. That necklace was given to him by his “mentor” who first taught Ethan what it meant to be an Agent of the Pokémon Rangers, and is a precious keepsake to him because of it. For some reason, his mentor always called it “Pirate’s Gold” but would never tell Ethan the whole story behind the coin. Aside from his own Pokémon, it is probably the one possession Ethan has that he values the most over any others.
Personal Related Information:
Personality: Ethan is just one of those types of guys who just never seems to want to take anything seriously. He is a lazy, perverted, daydreaming, and sarcastic bum who would rather be sleeping, playing his harmonica, or writing more of his adult fiction stories instead of actually doing anything that involves real work. That and he loves to party. Unfortunately, he also happens to have a phenomenally low tolerance for alcohol and often either becomes hopelessly drunk or passed out after only one or two drinks. In fact, he has also been known to occasionally become buzzed just by the smell of alcohol alone. This has often lead to troublesome but hilarious gossip stories about him circulating throughout Ranger HQ.
However, despite his many character flaws, Ethan actually takes his job as a Ranger and Tracker extremely seriously. He is a ruthless Tracker when it comes to hunting down criminals, especially poachers and Team Pravus operatives. This is mainly because he views the rampant destruction of Remoor’s natural habitats by Team Pravus and Mewtwo as an unforgivable sin. He also views poachers in nearly the same light since they are largely responsible for hunting and killing Remoor’s already dwindling Pokémon populations. In many ways, this is what drove Ethan to rise into the ranks of the Pokémon Rangers and become one of their best Pursuit and Capture specialists. He enjoys nothing more than bringing the people responsible for Remoor’s decline to justice.
You’d just never know it by looking at him.
Throughout the years of training and living in the outdoors almost constantly for extended periods of time, Ethan has gained an extraordinary level of understanding Pokémon. He has developed the ability to decipher and comprehend a Pokémon’s mannerisms, sounds, and body language as if it were human language. That and watching him mimic a wild Pokémon’s movements while talking to it is sometimes really funny. Naturally, this has also allowed him to develop an impressively close bond between himself and his Pokémon. He also has a slight preference towards Dark-Type Pokémon because of their versatility and balance between power, defense, and speed. He feels that this makes them the most ideal for his line of work, especially when it comes to catching “hoity-toity” Team Pravus operatives. But despite That he loves each of his Pokémon equally regardless of their Type and abilities. As his parents had always told him, “A Pokémon isn’t defined by what they are, but by who they are.”
History: It is said that in order to understand a man, you must first understand his story. In the case of Ethan Lynch, this is no different. The story of Ethan Lynch begins in the small town of Knotty Pines, a place surrounded by thick forests, mountains, and rushing rivers. He was born to two kind and loving parents who owned and resided in the town’s Pokémon Daycare Center. As a result, Ethan had spent almost all of his early and late childhood surrounded by Pokémon and learning all about them and their ways. While also making lots of new friends with them, of course. It was here that Ethan also soon started to develop the keen empathy that allows him to understand a Pokémon’s mannerisms and sounds and communicate back to it. This was a marvel to behold for everyone who visited their Daycare Center.
Years had passed by and soon Ethan had grown up into a teenager. A hopelessly lazy, daydreaming, and perverted teenager with a penchant for peeping into the women’s hot springs. This, more often than not, usually lead to him leaving with a number of bruises, bumps, foot prints on his body, and the occasional black eye. Most seemed to speculate that it was a trait he had inherited from his father, while others theorized that he had picked it up after being shown by a particularly mischievous Gastly that had spent some time at the Daycare Center. Strangely enough, when it comes to Ethan, both cases seem just as likely as the other.
As the years once again flew by, the only things that truly remained constant for Ethan was his love of Pokémon and his growing interest in becoming a Pokémon Ranger. Well… That and his love of beautiful women and parties but that’s beside the point. Eventually, word of the scourge presented by Team Pravus and Mewtwo had even trickled down into Knotty Pines’ sheltered community. Stories of whole sections of land just disappearing overnight were spreading like wildfire throughout the town, and the fear Ethan could see in the forest’s wild Pokémon only lead him to believe that they might be true. Not only that, but the call for volunteers to the Pokémon Rangers had also made its way into Knotty Pines. It was then that Ethan shocked everybody and decided that to sign up and do what he thought was right. To fight back for the Pokémon and people he cherished and to preserve the wild places that he had grown up surrounded by.
Ethan had officially signed with the Pokémon Rangers just barely two days after he had turned 13. He choose a baby Cyndaquil that he had named Fuego to be his first partner and then packed up what he could of his belongings and prepared to move out. He was met at the gates of town by a small group of people who wished to see him off. His mother and father, a few classmates from school, and Bobbi Harrison. The single most beautiful girl in all of Knotty Pines. It was also when she had given him his first kiss to commemorate his bravery and determination. And because she was also knew all about Ethan’s perverted nature, she also secretly gave him a small glamour photo of herself to take with him. The fun kind of glamour photo. Actually, it was just a miniature pin-up of herself but that's not the point! It was by far the best encouragement that Ethan had ever received in his life.
Seven years later and after an ungodly amount of training and hard work, Ethan had managed to ascend to the rank of Agent for the Pokémon Rangers’ Pursuit and Capture Division. He is the organization’s newest Agent to date. He currently enjoys his position because of all the traveling he does and being able to be outdoors as much as he likes. He also enjoys writing as a hobby and hopes to someday become a successful author later down the road. However, most of the books he reads and writes about tend to be of a somewhat “Mature” nature.
Characters Pokémon:
Name: Fuego Gender: Male Species: Typhlosion Age: 9 Years Level: 49 Ability: Blaze Personality: Fuego is Ethan’s first partner and has been with him ever since they both entered the Pokémon Rangers. He is also the one who is seen most with Ethan out of his Pokéball, mainly because he dislikes being cramped up as much as Ethan does. Unfortunately, this also means that he shares a number of other personality traits with Ethan. Most of them being less than desirable and often distasteful to other people. Like his partner, Fuego is a lazy good-fer-nothin’ who’d rather spend his days goofing off in the shade rather than doing anything he perceives to be real work. Not only that, but he also has almost no self-control when around attractive female Pokémon. This often gets them both into trouble with other Rangers, especially female ones. But despite these character flaws, Fuego is a fiercely loyal and dependable Pokémon who takes pride in what he does best. And that’s beating the snot out of Team Pravus operatives and Pokémon poachers. Once he’s fired up enough for a good fight, Fuego becomes a competitive whirling dynamo that won’t stop until either he or the enemy is unconscious.
Attacks:
- Foresight [Egg]
- Smoke Screen
- Flame Wheel
- Lava Plume
- Flame Thrower
- Rollout
- Brick Break [TM]
- Dig [TM]
----------------------------------------
Name: Iron Duke Gender: Male Species: Blastoise Age: 9 Years Level: 48 Ability: Torrent Personality: Iron Duke, or Duke for short, was named after a class of modern battleship because he boasts the strongest defense power on Nathan’s team. When the fighting gets too heavy to handle, you call on ol’ Duke to cover for you. He’s a steadfast companion who stares proudly into the face of danger with a sneer on his lips and a glint in his eyes. He also serves as the team’s Water Transport, which is especially handy when Ethan’s targets have fled to some nearby island or cut the bridge over a river filled with dangerous rapids. Duke is also a wise Pokémon who would rather enjoy doing the simpler and quieter things in life more than anything. Unfortunately, he’s also somehow even lazier than Ethan and Fuego. Astounding, I know. More often than not, one is bound to find Duke curled up nice and cozy inside of his shell and sound asleep, which is evident by the light snoring coming from inside. When he’s not asleep, he usually likes to either go swimming (naturally) or eat sweet-tasting berries.
Attacks:
- Bite
- Rapid Spin
- Protect
- Water Pulse
- Skull Bash
- Iron Defense
- Brine [TM]
- Ice Beam [TM]
------------------------------------------
Name: Archimedes Gender: Male Species: Hoothoot Age: 7 Level: 41 Ability: Insomnia Personality: Archimedes, or Archie for short, serves as the eyes and ears of Ethan’s team. His nocturnal nature makes him an ideal night sentry while Ethan and the other Pokémon are resting up for the night, and his superior eyesight makes him able to pick out the tiniest detail from a great distance. All in all, Archie’s role as Aerial Recon is an essential part to the success of Ethan’s team. However, while Archie makes an excellent watch-owl, that’s pretty much all he ever seems to do. Watch. Well… That and preen his feathers. As odd as it may sound for a Hoothoot, Archie isn’t exactly the brightest color in the crayon box. Intellectually, he’s roughly the same as any other specimen of his kind, but he’s also a little dense. And vain. Unless Ethan or another trusted person or Pokémon specifically tells him that he needs to be watching out for any signs of danger or keeping track of a target to report back about, Archie will usually just sit in a tree and watch what is happening around him with a mildly curiosity and groom himself. Even when Ethan and the others are under attack. The only way to snap Archie out of this is tell him that a bad guy made a snide comment about his feathers and appearance, which then causes him to fly into a rage and dive bomb the enemy with Sky Attack and Extrasensory.
Attacks:
- Sky Attack [Egg]
- Foresight
- Hypnosis
- Peck
- Reflect
- Air Slash
- Extrasensory
- Dream Eater [TM]
--------------------------------------------
Name: Oberon Gender: Male Species: Nuzleaf Age: 4 Years Level: 37 Ability: Chlorophyll Personality: Oberon, or Obie for short, is probably the most “normal” Pokémon that Ethan has. This Nuzleaf was named after the mythical King of the Faerie in Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” because he’s one of the the most clever and mysterious (or so he likes to think) members of Ethan’s team. He’s also one of the youngest members, and therefore is more naïve than the others. But what he lacks in experience, he makes up for with quick thinking and clever planning. He also tends to act like he’s the mysterious hero of his own epic story by randomly striking dramatic poses whenever he feels it’s appropriate. However, more often than not, this just looks hilarious to the other Pokémon and makes them double over in laughter. Much to poor Obie’s frustration and indignation. Obie is one of the team’s fastest and most agile members, coming a very close second behind Loki. He specializes in using Leech Seed to ensnare a target(s) in a vine net that drains their energy and makes them easier to handle.
Attacks:
- Leech Seed [Egg]
- Synthesis
- Sunny Day
- Razor Leaf
- Faint Attack
- Razor Wind
- Shadow Ball [TM]
- Solar Beam [TM]
----------------------------------------------------
Name: Loki Gender: Male Species: Sneasel Age: 5 Years Level: 42 Ability: Keen Eye Personality: Loki was given his name for three very specific reasons. He’s a mischievous, deviously clever, and utterly shameless practical joker. If there’s a prank to be done, then chances are that Loki has already done it. Or that he’s planning on doing it but just hasn’t chosen a proper victim yet. Whether it’s just waiting in ambush to draw on people’s faces, spiking Jekyll and Hyde’s food and water with Tabasco sauce, putting Icy Hot up Ethan’s or Fuego’s noses while they’re asleep, or flushing a lit firecracker down the port-a-potty just before someone uses it… This little guy turns pranking into an art form. The good news is that he doesn’t believe in constantly pranking people or Pokémon all the time, otherwise it just gets repetitive and loses its fun. Loki is also the fastest and most agile member on Ethan’s team and really has fun when he’s chasing after a target. That’s mostly because Ethan has given him free reign to prank the bad guy’s however he wants. Other than that, and despite his many character flaws, Loki is a deeply loyal Pokémon that can always be trusted to take matters seriously and get the job done when it matters most.
Attacks:
- Ice Punch [Egg]
- Quick Attack
- Faint Attack
- Agility
- Slash
- Metal Claw
- Shadow Claw [TM]
- Ice Beam [TM]
---------------------------------------------------
Name: Jekyll and Hyde (Twins) Genders: Male Species: Mightyena Age: 7 Years Level: 52 Ability: Intimidate Personality: Jekyll and Hyde, also known simply as the twins, are two of the best trackers in the whole Pursuit and Capture Division. Very few things are able to escape from their keen noses when they’re on the hunt, and even fewer are able to avoid their fangs once they’ve caught up to their target. Jekyll, the older of the twins by two minutes, can be best described as being the calm and collected one. He is the most disciplined out of the twins and takes pride in it. Hyde, on the other hand, is almost always seen with a cartoonish grin on his muzzle and snickering at anything he finds funny. This is just about everything, strangely enough. Quite frankly, his chuckling is like something straight out of an old Hanna-Barbera cartoon. Hyde is also more of a free spirit than his brother and likes doing things his own way rather than by the book. But regardless of their differences, both Jekyll and Hyde are naturally very close to one another and share an intense bond between brothers. It is this bond that allows them to possess excellent teamwork and coordination skills with each other.
Attacks:
- Body Slam [Egg]
- Sand Attack
- Odor Sleuth
- Scary Face
- Take Down
- Crunch
- Payback [TM]
- Shadow Ball [TM]
----------------------------------------------------
Name: Nero Gender: Male Species: Tyranitar Age: 10 Years Level: 55 Ability: Sand Stream Personality: Nero can be best described as having the body of a tank and the temperament of a chainsaw. But, that’s only when he’s angry. Unfortunately, that’s also most of the time. He’s a stubborn, irritable, high-and-mighty, and vengeful brute who enjoys nothing more than pounding his enemies into the dirt until there’s nothing left of them but a black smudge. And he’s also one of the best and powerful allies one could ever hope to have in a tough spot. But usually only as a last resort. And even then, you’ve got to be very careful of how you command him. But even so, there is another side to Nero underneath the savage exterior. When he’s not thrown into the heat of battle and feeling moderately content, Nero likes to enjoy his personal space and going off to do his own thing. No one is really quite sure what that is, though. This sometimes makes him appear a bit anti-social and often leads people to question if he is feeling lonely or upset. However, this isn’t the case at all. Most of the time, anyway. Nero is just fiercely independent and too proud of himself to play “silly games” with the other Pokémon. And even if he did, he’s just too shy for his own good to do anything about it. Combine this with a short fuse and huge destructive power, and people know well enough to give him some space when he wants it. However, despite his attitude, Nero secretly enjoys being with Ethan and the other Pokémon and holds a great respect for all of them. He’d just never admit it in a million years.
Attacks:
- Sandstorm [Sand Stream Ability]
- Outrage [Egg]
- Rock Slide
- Dark Pulse
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Hyper Beam [TM]
- Dragon Claw [TM]
Role Playing Sample:
The town of Twin Peaks. A quiet and peaceful little place set at the base of the picturesque mountains within the Salvaged Lands. And perhaps one of the last places left to be untouched by the war. It was an ordinary day like any other. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, children and parents laughed together in the marketplace, and an angry mob was stampeding through the streets after a pair of miscreants. What could be better than this?
Wait… What?
“Ya know, Fuego ol’ buddy. Its times like this that make me wonder what the world is coming to.” The words Ethan spoke seemed a bit too nonchalantly given the situation, especially to the Typhlosion who was running beside him. The Ranger's arms were pumping like crazy as he poured on the speed into his sprint, a cloud of dust being kicked up behind the pair as they dashed through the streets. Fuego dashed along low to the ground and on all fours. Currently, the two of them were fleeing for their lives from the town’s torch and pitchfork-waving populace, which usually meant one of two things. Either Ethan had racked up a huge bill at the local tavern and didn’t have any money to pay for it, or he and Fuego had both been caught peeping at the women’s hot springs. Since the pursuing mob was mostly made up of women, it wasn’t exactly a hard guess to make. “What’s left for an author to do when he can’t even research his topic of interest? I’m tellin’ ya, this is no way for an up-and-coming bestseller to work.”
The only answer Fuego gave to Ethan was a surly “Bawwrr…” as the two turned sharply onto another street. They barely managed to avoid crashing right into a cart full of food and other goods, with Ethan leaping right over it with a neat somersault while Fuego dove right beneath the earth and burrowed through to the other side. Unfortunately, the angry mob was still on their tails and getting closer by the second. “Rawf. Rrrr… Baarrrr.” Fuego growled irritably to his partner once they were past the merchant’s cart and heading towards Twin Peaks’ main gate. The constant stomping of the crowd stampeding behind them was powerful enough to make the ground shake beneath their feet.
“Eh? Oi. Oi. Don’t be tryin’ to pin this all on me now.” Ethan replied with a slight glare to Fuego. “You didn’t have to come along with me to do my research, ya know.” As he spoke, he turned his eyes back to the gates looming before them. With the exception of a few innocent bystanders, he and Fuego had a clear shot to the outside. All they needed to do now was keep running for all they were worth.
RAWR! BRAWF!”
Sighing lightly and rolling his eyes, Ethan turned his attention back to Fuego but continued his fast pace. If either one of them slowed down now, they would be goners. ”Well, I’m SORRY that there weren’t any cute Pokemon there waiting for you! And why would there be any at that place, anyway!? It’s a hot springs for PEOPLE, you dummy! And I seem to recall that you’re the one who dropped the binoculars and fell out of the tree first! Not me!”
“….Rrrrrrrawf!….” snorted the Typhlosion.
“Ehhh…. Okay, fine. If it’ll make you feel better, you get to pick the next spot for research.”
“Bawr?”
“….. Yes. One where there’s a cute Lopunny.” Ethan sighed before palming his face. He could already see the little pink hearts pounding in the Typhlosion’s without even looking at him. And sure enough, just as he took a peek at Fuego through the gap between his fingers, there they were. Bright pink and pounding over a silly grin on his muzzle. Ethan couldn’t help but chuckle a bit as he lowered his hands and kept running. “Now get your head out of the clouds and keep running. We’re almost to the finish-…. Oh crap.”
Oh crap, indeed.
Standing between them and the gates of freedom was a crowd of roughly fifty people holding their torches and pitchforks. Many of them were women with towels still wrapped around their wet and curvy bodies. And they were all just fuming as they glared knives at the Ranger and his Pokémon. “Well, Fuego…” Ethan sighed as he stuck a toothpick between his lips and patted his friend on the head. The strange thing was that there wasn’t a trace of fear on his or on Fuego’s expression. Just a small smile that spoke of a resigned satisfaction of sorts. “It was nice knowing you. Wait for me in the afterlife, okay?”
And that was when the mob charged. [/sub]

--I so did ot notice this first read through
. In Remoor--almost all Pokemon can speak the human language.
So maybe one of his pokes has a speech issue--but almost all of em can speak like us . .maybe in a gruff half inaudible way. .. Call it exposure to pollution or something.
Just so ya know~

Well.... If it makes no difference to anyone else, I'd rather keep my pokemon as they are. I really like the whole "Pokemon Language" thing and I think it adds a lot to Ethan as a character. I like to think that Pokemon bred by the organizations can be made to talk early, but wild Pokemon still have their own thing. I know it's not a big deal, but that's just how I prefer it. xD; I was thinking that the language thing was more like an option than a must have.

x3 And thank you muchly. By the way, is Ethan all set to be moved to the "Accepted Rangers" section? Or are there still some issues that need to be fixed?
