Scratch that, I'm declaring it finished.
Walking back into the base, he looked around, sighing slightly. So, now he was back, and it was time to do something. He had to beat Pravus, an impossible task, he had to save remoor, another impossible task, and he had to do it all without Seriyah. That alone made it seem impossible. Still, as he went back into his room, he saw a few things that seemed to be out of place. An old box, with a bunch of papers in it, and a small, antique box sitting next to that.
The one with papers held his maps. They were old maps, not likely true anymore, since a lot had happened to remoor. But at the bottom, there were blank sheets, and his old materials. Pulling them out, he looked at them, then put them on his desk. Maybe he should start mapping again. Seriyah would like that. Opening the other box, he saw the two feathers, once more. The lustrous gleam of the silver one, and the rainbow glow of the other. They’d started this whole thing, and he’d almost forgotten about them. He needed to remind himself of them, why he was here still. Just seeing them brought good memories to mind, gave him strength.
That was when he got his hat. It was a straw hat, and rather huge, but it worked for what he wanted, and he threaded the two feathers into the hat, adding a silver and rainbow gleam to it, that you couldn’t fail to miss. Made things feel a little less impossible for him.
Name: ternac
Species: Alakazam
Age: 7
Level:66
Personality: Ternac’s personality has changed, but by all accounts, it has changed for the better. In all honesty, it is not so much of a change, as a reverting back to an older, better state. Ternac, or Ternac the magnificent, as he sometimes calls himself, has become what he used to be, a magician. His psychic powers are quite good for this, and he specializes in lightshows. A common entrance is him walking in, weaning a cloak, to toss it aside, and have seemingly fireworks explode into color. He’s a master at the entrance, able to slip in unseen, and then show off when he wants to.
Add to that his tendency to listen to people as much as he can, mainly to see how they perceive things, and you have one good magician. Of course, magic is cunning, and deception, fooling people to believe one thing is happening when another is, and as such, its best not to try Ternac. You don’t want a master of deception mad at you, as soon you’ll find things start happening. Bad things, and you won’t ever figure out why. Though he’s not the most spiteful person, it does take quite a bit too actually make him want to get back at you. As all alakazam’s are, he’s very smart as well, and normally takes on the role of general in battle, watching every aspect and deciding the next best move. As well, he’s a fiend for chess, though don’t play if you don’t want to lose.
Attacks:
Psychic
Calm Mind
Recover
Focus Blast
Teleport

Name: Allie
Species: Lucario
Age: 9
Level: 71
Personality: Allie’s changed too, but not as much as Ternac has. The main difference is two things. One, well, she’s brought back her basic training regime, so if you see Reid running for dear life, its likely because he’s seen her go outside, which she only does to get rocks. That’s right, her goal is to get him back into shape, as he seems to have lost it, and that involves throwing lots and lots of rocks at him. As well, she may recruit other people to do this, something that’s been surprisingly successful.
Beyond her rock throwing however, she’s also turned extremely clingy. That’s the main reason Reid knows when she’s going to barrage him, because any other time, she’s hover around him, watching and or sitting next to him. Its mainly because she’s afraid that he’s going to try something, and after hauling him to the hospital once, she’s not too keen on doing that again. Besides, she still has her crush on him, and she doesn’t want to see him hurt ever again. Unless its her doing the hurting, in that case, its only because she loves him. She also loves to train with people, it’s a pastime of hers to try and make all the skinny recruits into something. Even if she can be a bit harsh.
Attacks:Swords Dance
Close combat
Dragon Pulse
Aura Sphere
Extremespeed
Name: Veronica "Vick”
Species: Starraptor
Age: 11
Level: 80
Personality:Veronica has some masculinity issues. This mainly stems from being considered a girl most of his life, due to a somewhat crazy mother. She wanted a girl, but she only had a boy, so the answer was to name him a girl and consider him as one. Of course, as a Starly, he didn’t think that was odd. But after evolving, he realized that was not exactly the best thing. Still, Seriyah wouldn’t let him forget it, and made a point of calling him it for quite some time. As a result, he tends to act extremely foolish and aggressive, though that’s not really how he normally acts.
When he’s around people he knows, he’s competitive, but no more so than most guys are. Its just around strangers that he acts like a complete muscle bound idiot. Beyond those times, he’s pretty good at doing the smart thing, and has quite the eye for finding out people’s weaknesses. Long as he isn’t in macho mood, this is normally used to help them, by telling them that’s not bad, or that its okay, but if you make him an enemy, he’ll often pick at the one think you hate most, to great effect.
Attacks:
Brave bird
Aerial ace
Takedown
Close combat
Double team
agility
Role Playing Sample: [/blockquote][/sub]
The Player:[/b] He winced, even in his depressed state. Oh great fun, he was going to get thwacked with rocks all over again. Though she had a point.

Physical Appearance Information:
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: blue
Height: 6'8
Build: strong wiry
Other Appearance Information: Reid has changed since the ceasefire, or more accurately, since Destinae was defeated. Scars, which were before few and far between, are now riddled across his body. But its best to start with his base outlook, which has changed from earlier.
First off, his face has shown signs of change from last time. A scar now runs from his cheek down a inch, a cut received during a rescue of a girl from a building that was in the middle of collapsing. His bright blue eyes are still the same, though they seem saddened, as if he’s in pain. His hair is kept short, no longer than the tip of his ears, though it seems shaggy despite the shortness. Its often in a mess, as he doesn’t often comb it, though he does take care to make sure it looks presentable enough. Sometimes he can be found wearing a big straw hat, normally only when he’s out exploring, with two feathers, one a lustrous silver, the other that seems to shift colors in the light.
Now onto his torso, which has as well changed since last described. First off, there’s now absolutely no fat left on it. Its pure muscle, mainly because he’s not been eating much at all, and as such, his fat, small as it was, has disappeared almost completely. There’s still a little, but mainly he’s muscle, and that’s not to be taken lightly, though most people don’t notice, he doesn’t tend to show it off. Scars also have appeared on that, though their mainly superficial, and will go away. The one notable one is one across his back, which looks like quite the vicious wound. This he shows to no one, but if you do somehow see it, he’ll just ignore your question, or change the topic.
For clothing, he wears many things, depending on his mood. At times he wears normal clothing, a polo and jeans, but at times, he’s hidden in a long, to his feet cloak. A hood is on it as well, shrouding his face, and overall bringing a air of intimidation to the table, as you can see him, but not well, save for his eyes. Beyond that however, he doesn’t have other physical quirks, at least on his torso.
For his feet and legs, their’s not much that hasn’t already been covered. He’s got scars, and they show, but their minor, and will likely fade away within a few months. No serious one’s line his legs, though a few do stand out slightly. As for his feet, their nothing remarkable, though his shoes can be, as sometimes they are boots, which are rather heavy, and made of leather. While these are rarely seen, they are a bit different, especially with his jeans he often wears. His other footwear are not nearly as remarkable, though stylish.
Personal Related Information:
Personality: Forget everything you knew about Reid. To all but his pokemon, his closest friends, he’s changed, drastically, and not always for the better. In fact, to most, it’ll definitely be a much unwanted change. Still, unwanted or not, it has happened, and one should learn to deal with it as best they can.
First off, to all but those he knows, he’s chilly. He’s not chilly as in mean or snarky, but more of just cold. He won’t say anything to you at all, so don’t try and start talking to him, its not of any use. He’ll only say the bare minimum, and nothing more, and oftentimes the bare minimum is somewhere within twenty or thirty words. As well, he can come off as somewhat heartless, as he’s cool and calculating oftentimes, seeing the facts, instead of what other tend to see, and reacting with cool force. This is him with individuals, but with the rangers as a whole, such as when he’s addressing a number of them, he’s a different feel.
When he’s there, he’s a commanding force, and books little disagreement. With them as a group, he’s very succinct, saying what needs to be said, but often tries to inspire them, show them that he’s not a icy heartless man. Because, he’s not, and only when he’s on a podium can one who didn’t know him from before see that. He can even become passionate for the topic, and will even argue, somewhat, though don’t get in his way.
He doesn’t book much disagreement, but he does listen. With the lack of talking from him, he’s taken to listening to absolutely everything that goes on around him, and has gotten very good at it. Every now and then, he’ll even walk up and give a few words of his opinion, though that’s only if he feels that he should help you. This isn’t nearly as often as it was before he changed. Still, when it comes to obeying his orders, he will make you do them, and arguing is normally futile. He does listen, but he’s set in his ideas, and it will take a lot to dissuade him that he’s right.
Around people he’s known for a while, or friends, he starts to thaw, but only slightly. Don’t expect him opening up and showing you anything. He’ll just be more likely to say what’s on his mind, and talk more. He’s absolutely not rash at all, and will think things out several times before acting, but this is much improved from his rather heartless appearance around strangers, or people he doesn’t know.
Around his very best of friends, such as his Pokémon, he’s similar to his older self, in that he’s no longer cold, but he comes off as sad. He is more open than before, though not like he was before, but you can tell he’s hurting. He’s somewhat like a wreck around them, but he’s not going to show it, as he believes that people would jump on him if he showed his true side, like they did before.
By himself, well, Reid’s himself. One or two others may know about this, but those consist of his psychic Ternac, and maybe one of his other Pokémon, who pay attention. Here, or with Ternac, he lets down all barriers, as he knows Ternac could find out if he wanted, and breaks down. If you catch him by himself, he’s normally crying, or in some cases sobbing, though those are kept to his office, when no one can come in. He’s often got a tear in his eyes as of yet, and if you catch him at the right time, he’s rather befuddled, and that’s where most people realize he’s still himself, though he soon resumes the cold exterior he has assumed. As well, he often is writing in his book by himself, which while he does it around other people, keeping notes, other such things, by himself, he’s normally crying as he writes.
This is why others may see him as a rather troubled figure, and he is, but he doesn’t show it. His true nature, the kind, joking, lazy Reid is still there, buried deep under the new surface, but the problem is he won’t let it rise up again. Its not because he wanted to change, but because of what has happened to him. Which brings us to his next thing.
He despises Pravus. This is the one other time you may find him truly alive, when he’s attacking, plotting against, or just plain trashing, Pravus. This is no mere hatred. This is a loathing, deep within his being, that will never go away. Reason doesn’t factor in, he hates Pravus, and everything about them. While the grunts, even some of the lieutenants, he believes can change, any high ranking member has his undying hatred. Nothing they could do could pacify him, and he will not rest until he see’s their bodies lying before him. This shows in his actions, as he becomes far more reckless, though that doesn’t mean he turns stupid. Just a little less careful than normal, or maybe quite a bit, but only because he’s normally rather cautious.
Another thing is that he’s often seen holding a map, and drawing what he see’s in it. Its quite well done, though parts of it are blank, which often puzzles people that see it until he explains that he’s the one mapping it. He also has a habit of stroking the feathers on his hat when he wears it, though he doesn’t really notice this fact much at all. As well, he often is seen looking everywhere around him, as if he’s looking for something unseen.
Another trait, and the last one of real importance, is that he can be rather imaginative. While you don’t often see this in his personal day to day experiences, it comes out whenever he has to solve a problem. A good analogy would be that when given two very difficult choices, he chooses a third one. While this is a good time at times, it had led to some unfortunate misfiring, once even injuring himself with this. Still, it’s a holdover from when he wasn’t depressed, and its not likely to change.
History: Reid’s history is long and storied, with many twists and turns, even up to the very end of it. Best sit down, as this is going to be a long one. Though, with every story, its best to start with the beginning, with his early childhood.
His early childhood was quite simply, normal. He was just an ordinary kid, with nothing remarkable about him, save two things. One, an odd habit of scribbling things, which he didn’t outgrow as he grew older, and the fact that he had what many call wanderlust, even as a kid. Pairing that with his intelligence, he was soon wandering around; luckily he was kept close by after the first incident. Still, that didn’t mean he couldn’t try, and no baby pen was safe from his escaping ability.
Moving onward, we see that by around seven, that scribbling had turned into drawing. Nothing in particular, but due to his constant use, he began to actually draw things that looked realistic. Nothing spectacular, but no longer random scribbles like earlier. His parents of course supported it, but it was his grandfather who really set him down the path of cartography, or mapmaking.
His grandfather, around 75, had been a rather well known explorer in his day, and Reid had always loved to hear his stories of exploring places, charting new lands. He had decided to try and map his house, wanting to show his Grandfather that he could do it too, and his Grandfather encouraged him, saying he’d teach him how to draw professional maps. He thought it’d be just a phase, but when Reid stuck to it, he showed him more and more. As well, he told him many tales of his adventures, some a bit more fanciful than others, but Reid believed them all. He was still young, so to him, the world was still a magical place, full of adventure.
Of course, that opinion never changed, even as he grew older. By around 12, he’d been mapping for four years, and his drawing skills had improved vastly. As well, he started what he considered a adventurers workout, consisting of running a lot, lifting weights, and doing a bunch of what if scenario’s in his head. While the last one was of dubious nature, the other two were useful, as it did get him into working out, something that has led him all his life in being extremely fit.
About this same time, he started to really get into Pokémon. Everyone liked them sure, but it was about now that he started to show real interest in doing something with them. This to him, seemed like a perfect match. People got a Pokémon, wandered off into the unknown, and then came out strong mature trainers, ready to take down anything and everything! Sure, it was a bit imaginative, but Reid was just that kind of kid. This was shown in his insistence to learn swordplay. His basis was that no good adventurer could be without a machete, and why not be proficient in using something like it? Besides, swords were cool!
So, after finally getting his parents to cave to sword fighting lessons, at around 13, he started to save up money. Taking on a paper route, as it was a good way to practice leg strength, he started to save all his earnings, saying that he needed money for camping and mapping supplies. His parents were relieved, glad that he wasn’t insisting they would pay. This kept him busy for a few years, especially considering the amount of supplies he was needing.
By the age of sixteen, in fact, a few days after his birthday, he felt that he couldn’t delay any longer. Secretly, he’d been ready for about a year, at fourteen, but he didn’t feel like going, because he was scared. While he talked a good game, when it came time to actually leave, he realized he would miss everyone. His grandpa, who told him such good stories, his parents, who were so nice, his friends, all of them, because who knew when he might be back? Still, eventually he had to leave, and that he did. It was really his fifteenth birthday that convinced him to leave.
His parents had pitched in for his very own broadsword, and good mapping paper, but his Grandpa had really sealed the deal. In his package were two feathers. He had really meant to give him those at sixteen, but since he seemed likely to leave, he decided now was the best time. These were his favorite possessions, possessed during his stint in Johto. He said they were the feathers of the legends Ho-oh and Lugia, and Reid couldn’t help but agree. That he gave him these really touched Reid, and that’s what made him decide he had to leave, to strike out on his own. It was his job to do his Grandpa proud. With the statement that he’d be back when he’d mapped all of Remoor, he left, pack ready, to get his first Pokémon. He didn’t know how big a impact this would be.
Why was this moment a monumental impact? It was his first meeting with Seriyah. And of course, that shaped his entire life. After retrieving her from James, and his assistant Bill, their adventures together started, and what adventures they were. Of course, Reid would say that these were the months of terror, but that’s just his opinion.
Why the months of terror? Well, Seriyah was a rather cruel little Grista, when all was said and done, at least at the beginning. She had the rather comedic habit of stealing stuff from Reid, only to put it back again later, to his utter befuddlement. But things didn’t end there. She also tended to play pranks all the time on him, so much so that he started to double check every door he opened for anything falling on him, and to always dump out his back before he reached into it. Worst of all however, was the fact that she would always act perfectly around strangers, who thought it odd that he was so convinced she was the devil.
Still, despite this rocky beginning, things changed. Slowly, but they did indeed change. Seriyah started to respect him as a trainer, and that brought about changes in her attitude. The pranks lessened, and by the time she evolved, around sixth months into things, things seemed to be settling into a rhythm. He’d gotten his first gym badge, after a bit of training, and his second, all while putting together his map. Things were going well, but then he met Vick.
Of course, then, he was insisting he was Veronica. You see, Vick was a starly who’s mother wanted a girl. So, the obvious course was to name him a girls name, and pretend he was. So, as a starly, he was insisting on being called Veronica, much to Seriyah’s delight. After his first evolution, he decided that maybe insisting he be called a girls name was a bad idea, and Seriyah’s taunts didn’t help that fact much either. This was about 9 months into his journey, and not much eventful beyond obtaining the third badge happened between then and his first year. Taking all of his maps which he had made, quite extensive one’s too, he decided to take a break in a town, especially because his food supply had dwindled quite extensively. So, in the next city, he got an apartment, and started taking a job, something he expected to do no more than a month or two. As well, it was the home of the fourth Gym, so he planned on asking to train there.
About three weeks into working, he met a man, a rather prominent official, and proceeded to step on his toes, as Reid is so apt to do. The man was the former mayor, having been voted out of office a few months ago, but still retained much of his political connections. Reid however, met the man, and didn’t like him. Something about the guy seemed slimy, Reid just didn’t like the dude. After working for him for a week or so, he decided he’d quit, and told the guy so. When he asked why, he simply stated that he didn’t like the guy.
The man did not appreciate that at all. Not at all in fact. Reid however, couldn’t care less, because he had a sneaking suspicion he was doing something illegitimate in the house. When he went to turn his things in the next day though, he found out, much to his horror, that he was indeed right. Walking in he saw the man out in his yard, doing something, and looking out, saw that he was burying a body. Turning pale, he backed up, but the man saw him, and chased him. Tackling him, he bashed his head against the floor, and stars erupted in his eyes.
Waking up he found himself chained, in a dark room. Immediately he regretted waking up, mainly for the throbbing pain in the back of his head. It pulsed with every heartbeat, and he wasn’t sure where he was, until the memory came back. Man, slammed head, darkness. Attempting to move his arms, he found that he was bound by a rope, and couldn’t move. Straining against the bonds did nothing, however, except bring the man in, who enlightened him on what was to come.
Apparently this was not a new thing for the man. A sadist, he kidnapped people, and tortured them, until he got bored, and killed them. He then grinned, and added that he should try and not bore him, if he wanted to live longer. Then again, he may not want to live long. Thus began the longest two days of his entire life, thus far.
Luckily for Reid, most of this time is a haze of pain. He doesn’t really remember it at all, mainly because oftentimes he was fading in and out of consciousness. He does remember one glaring memory, however. The man had a over fondness for whipping, and tore his back up very well. He also faintly recalls something similar to being slammed into walls, and the feeling of bones popping in and out of place, though he wasn’t sure exactly what happened to him, and hasn’t really tried to remember.
This would have continued until he was too weak to stand, the man then ending him, as he constantly told him, but fate had decided on a different fate for him. Or more accurately, Seriyah was not about to have her trainer get murdered on her watch. After his abduction, and failure to arrive home, she had gotten worried, but when he hadn’t came home that night, she knew something was wrong. So, getting Vick, she decided to find him, going to the place he’d said he’d be going to.
Soon after arriving, she knew he had been there. But, the question was, had he left. Sneaking around, as the man was alone and had no staff, and left a window open, she found that he was inside the house. Then Vick lighted down on the windowsill, and told her he had seen him. The duo went back up to the window, and looked down, Reid passed out, and Seriyah did the only think she could think of. She broke the glass, and sent Vick in to deal with the ropes. Meanwhile, she went back around, trying to find a way into the place.
Unfortunately, the man had heard the crashing glass, and went to investigate. Seriyah got in just as he was entering the hallway, and followed him, as he walked into his room. She waited, then when he didn’t emerge, followed him, to find his room deserted. She would have been confused, if not for the loud sounds coming from behind his bed. Seemingly the man had an extra room behind his bed, and kept his prisoners there. It took her only a few moments to break into the place, to see the scene before her.
The man was busy trying to fend off a very pissed off bird, who was attacking him. Unfortunately, Vick was getting the worst of it. At least until Seriyah set him on fire. The man soon ran screaming out, flames covering his apparently very flammable clothing. Reid was still unconscious however, so they had the chore of dragging him out, at least most of the way. Once they reached the stairs, he had managed to regain basic consciousness, and while confused, managed to start walking. Then the man reappeared. Apparently he figured to stop drop and roll, and was out for blood.
With his knife, he brandished it, screaming he’d kill them all, and ran at them. Reid would have been toast, if he hadn’t been pushed out of the way by Seriyah. She sadly, took a wound to the side, not deep, but enough to tick her off. No, she’d make this bastard pay. In the best way she knew, by lighting things on fire. The man had recovered, but instead of letting him attack, she blew flames onto the couch, which soon roared into a merry blaze. Man distracted, Vick ambushed him, knocking him down.
Seriyah however, was not just content to light the couch on fire. No, she soon targeted most of the room, the place in flames. The man, seemingly dazed, didn’t rise, but Seriyah didn’t care, right now she needed Reid out, now. Reid was dazed, confused, but knew enough to realize flaming houses were not good. Walking outside, or stumbling, more accurately, outside. Wandering onto the street, he decided he was out, and his vision faded once more, leaving him Seriyah and Vick outside the house, all three wounded in some form. His last sight was some person running towards him as he collapsed.
Reid woke up in the hospital, and felt it. Opening his eyes was like attempting to lift 100 pounds with his eyelids, but open them he did eventually, looking around blearily and wondering where in the world he was. The last few days were a haze of pain, and fire, then collapsing. Still, eventually he regained enough mental faculty, after thinking for quite some time, to piece together that he was most definitely not in the man’s house, and that he was safe. He felt a lot better than he had, but he was still unsure as to how he got here, or how long he’d been asleep.
Doctors soon filled him in on that. He’d been sleeping for about a day, after being brought in with multiple lacerations, which they’d managed to sow up, though one had been particularly nasty. He’d been found outside of a burning house, with his two injured pokemon. At the word injured, he looked on, concerned, and asked them how they were. The doctors smiled, and said they were fine, the worst injury was a knife wound, easily mended, though she would have stitches. Far more concerning was his loss of blood, he’d needed about five pints before all was said and done. He’d very nearly died.
Reid was in the hospital about a week, wanting to make sure his wounds wouldn’t open back up, and soon, his stitches were out, though they told him that he would always have quite the scar on his back from a wound. A quiet thank you, and the bill, which they let him pay in installments, and he was soon back into his apartment. Which, in short order, he had completely locked up, and only left to buy food, and go to work.
A intense paranoia of all people descended up on him for a long time, almost four months. Every person he saw was wanting to attack him, every friendly gesture was someone trying to hurt him. Eventually Seriyah could take it when he nearly had a heart attack at someone tapping him on the shoulder. She dragged him off to therapy, despite his protests, saying “Your going to therapy. Deal with it.”
Which in the end was a good thing for him, as it did help get over his intense paranoia. In the span of about five months of therapy, he finally got over his intense paranoia issues, mainly by being forced by the therapist to deal with people. Eventually he had to realize he just didn’t have the energy to be so paranoid all the time, and it eventually dropped. Of course, even afterwards, for a few years he was rather jumpy, and he always tends to look around him, even now.
Still, there was the problem that his therapy sessions left him with quite the debt. For three months, he was busy trying to just earn his keep with odd jobs, before deciding this just wasn’t going to do. He had to find some way to get stable income, and that’s when he saw an opening at the gym. It seemed to pay well, and intrigued him. When he took it home, the three of them immediately decided it was the job for him, as Seriyah put it “even if it’s a normal gym, Vick fits the bill, why not throw him in?”
Thus began his stint as a gym trainer. It was quite a bit tougher than he imagined, this gym leader wanted his trainers to be the best, even if they couldn’t really show their true power due to their rank. Still, Reid loved the work, and it paid well. Within six months he had managed to pay off most of his debts, and by this time Seriyah had evolved into a Kortano, a form she said was best suited for her. In her own words “Besides, who would want to mess with the demon dog from hell?” Reid couldn’t help but laugh at that. Vick as well completed his evolution to Starraptor, and was quite pleased with that. No one would think he was a girl now!
Within this time, not much happened, beyond battling training, flying, and paperwork, but Reid felt it was one of the best periods of his life. Still, by the time a year had rolled around, his finances were in order, supplies stocked, and the wanderlust had came upon him. His dream of becoming a champion was still there, burning brighter and brighter as he grew stronger, and after challenging, and defeating, his gym leader, he resigned, and bidding fond farewell to the trainers he’d grown to like, he left, back into the uncharted wildernesses on his map. He had still to find where the feathers his grandfather had given him, something he planned on doing.
Once more mapping the world, he was back outside into the world, and having a blast. Several rather interesting events happened during this time, the most important probably being the capture of Allie. It was quite the event too. It all started when Reid accidentally awakened a swarm of Beedrill, and they were none too pleased at him. So, running for dear life back to camp, he yelled for Seriyah and Vick, both of whom looked out curious, then took flight, when they saw the swarm of Beedrill. Seriyah laughed at him, shaking her head at his propensity to mess everything up, and he scowled at her. He didn’t mean to disturb the beedrill!
Thus they started to wander. Quite randomly in and out of the woods, which were somewhat sparse, and often transitioned into meadows. It was in one of these meadows that Reid first met Allie. It had eventually turned into a race, as it always does with this group, Vick and Seriyah had split up from him him, and Reid had no intention of losing. He was in fact racing down a hill, when a accidental rock had tripped him up. Now he knew how to fall, after training with the gym, but what he didn’t think was he’d roll so far. Finally stopping, a bit dizzy, he stood, to see what appeared to be several copies of a Riolu in front of him.
Just then he didn’t feel very good, so falling back down he laid back, nauseous, and world spinning. Then the pokemon appeared in his view, looking at him curiously. He hoped it wasn’t aggressive, he wasn’t really in a place to defend himself at the moment, except if you considered fighting back bile as defending yourself. Still, after studying him for a bit, it sat down next to him, and watched him recover. As he eventually stood, then found it to be a horrible idea and sat instead, it smiled at him, and then went back to its training. Reid decided to watch for a bit, and indeed, this Pokémon could train.
It threw up rocks in the air, and smashed them, in quite a few acrobatic ways, but watching this, Reid got an idea. Grabbing a few rocks, and waiting for a pause, he said “Hey!” And after getting its attention, threw a few over to it. At first it thought he was attacking her, dodging, but then got the idea, and started to practice on those. Eventually, he ran out of rocks to throw, and waved goodbye, with it waving back. By the time gotten a good distance, Seriyah spouted a jet of flame into the air, her signal that she’d found it, and they all went over to her.
Eventually going to bed, he slept comfortably, until a noise woke him. Yawning, he looked around, wondering what it was, and saw something fumbling with his tent. Apparently it was not good at working zippers, and he wasn’t sure what it was, but was curious enough to look. Lo and behold, it was the Riolu, who promptly threw a rock at his face. Luckily, he blocked it, and was about to go off on the Riolu, when it smiled, and did it again. This time he didn’t block it, landing on his forehead with a painful thwack and he yelped. The Riolu frowned at him, and seemed to scold, while Reid growled, then it hit him. She was trying train him!
Walking outside, and stretching, he tried to inform the Riolu that he didn’t train, but was normally busy dodging, or being painfully hit by the pint sized missile thrower. Eventually it ran out, and grinning, walking over and nodding to him, while he rubbed his various wounds. Seriyah and Vick burst out laughing as it started to pick up more, and he shook his head violently, saying “Wait! Don’t!” But sadly the whole thing started all over again.
In the end, when the Riolu was content to stop throwing rocks at him, it sat down, yawning. The sun had came up during her rock barrage, and since she’d seemingly been up for quite some time he wasn’t surprised. The trio packed up camp, folding it up into his pack once more, and made breakfast. The Riolu, smelling food, seemed to perk up, and joined in, Reid figuring it would want to. After the meal, the trio started out again, Reid with his map, when the Riolu poked his leg and demanded to be put on his shoulder. He wasn’t exactly sure why, but he decided to humor it, placing it on his shoulder, as it sat, swinging its legs for a bit before falling asleep.
That was how Allie joined the group, after Reid put her in a pokeball asleep. He wasn’t going to carry her around the entire way, and besides, his shoulder had gotten sore. She was fine with it however, and still put Reid through what she called basic training sessions, basically him dodging as many rocks as he could while she threw them faster and faster, and started to ambush him. Still, it did do him good, as he got better at reacting to things. Though he often went to bed with bruises from a few harder throws, much to his grief. Seriyah, of course, loved to watch these trainings sessions, and would often give Allie ideas, despite Reid’s begging.
Still, despite this all, Reid managed to make it to the fifth gym, when his map paper ran out. He had quite comprehensive maps, charting a good distance around the routes, which was the reason it took him a while to get there. By the fifth gym, beating it, and then raising enough money to buy the maps, he’d celebrated his 20st birthday. Continuing on, he spent the next sixth months in the wilderness, charting the map and getting lost along the way. Eventually he pulled into the city holding the sixth gym, and by that time Allie had evolved.
As his supplies had gone down quite considerably, he decided this time to stay a bit longer with his working, and worked for about five months, buying more supplies this time so he wouldn’t have to worry about it. By this twenty-first birthday, he’d gotten his sixth badge, and after a few more days of preparation, they set out into the wilderness once more. This would be the time they would add Ternac to their group, another eventful day.
It started out normally enough, with them waking up, breaking camp, and heading on out towards the city, though they often stopped so he could draw. Then he saw something weird happening with the light over by a patch, and staring at it, it seemed to flip out, doing all sorts of weird impossible things. Bringing his gang, with a whistle, he pointed over there, and asked Vick to scope it out. After a few moments, he reported it was a Kadabra, doing something weird.
Interested, he walked over, and saw that it was indeed a Kadabra, who was using his psychic powers to mess with the light. It soon saw them, and with a flourish, said “I see you came to see the magical doing of Ternac, the greatest magician ever to live!” Reid laughed, while Seriyah informed him gravely that it wasn’t magic at all, just some tricks with light refraction, and blocking. “It is so!” He insisted, and focusing, pulled off quite the specaular stunt, which looked like a kaleidoscope in the air. Seriyah however, shook her head and informed him that of course, it was just a trick of the light.
Huffing, he shook his head, and the gang went on, before reaching a chasm. Normally this would be no hard feat, with two fliers, but unfortunately, it was surrounded by a swarm of Fearow, who looked irate. Of course, seeing them there, they were none too pleased, but when they saw Vick, they dived. Apparently a Starraptor had terrorized them, and they wanted revenge. Running for dear life, Seriyah managed to confuse them, but soon they regrouped, and Reid was sure they weren’t going to get out of this without serious wounds.
Then, all the sudden, it became totally dark around them. Baffled, Reid wanted to see what was happening, but Seriyah whispered for him to stop being stupid and lie low. Then they heard the voice again. “The magical ternac, had made them disappear! Do not worry friends; they shall disturb you no more!” The sound of flapping wings could be heard, before Ternac reappeared, the darkness disappearing. “So, am I magical now?” He said, grinning.
Even Seriyah couldn’t say that wasn’t amazing, and said “Guess we owe you one.” He seemed to smile, and said it was all in a days work. Reid however, was stuck with the problem of how they were going to get across the chasm. “Don’t worry. I’ll just teleport us across.” Figuring that they had no better idea, they neared the chasm, and Reid put all his pokemon on his belt, before covering his face to look different. They could potentially remember him. Ternac then touched him, and focusing for only a second, teleported the duo across.
After doing this, Reid released his pokemon, who bid him farewell, when he interrupted them. “You know, as a magician, I think it would be best if I saw more of the world. Would you…perhaps take me with you?” Reid laughed, replying they’d love to, and captured him, before releasing him again, smiling slightly and saying “Welcome to the team Ternac!” Thus the group grew to five, and they continued on.
He soon arrived halfway though the year at the seventh gym, and suffered his first loss to a gym leader. It was close, very close, but in the end, an unlucky hit had vanquished him. Not to be deterred, he applied for a spot at the gym, which he used Seriyah for. The fire gym leader was quite good, unsurprisingly, and Seriyah got a lot better with using fire under her training. As well, his other pokemon weren’t left in the dark, he trained with other trainers in his spare time, keeping them sharp too.
Seven months into this training, things were going well. He definitely was stronger, and even managed to work out a deal to get Ternac evolved, into his alakazam form. Of course, unfortunately, this brought about the end of his more interesting Magician side, and brought out a rather depressing side of him. In fact Ternac seemed to consider life pointless, much to Reid’s annoyance, and often was locked in debate with him whenever he wasn’t training.
Within that month he’d challenged the leader again, and this time, managed to beat her. It didn’t hurt that after training under her he knew quite a few of her tricks. Still, it was a good fight. Once more he was off into the wilderness, mapping and charting things that had yet to be done, and by his 23rd birthday, he was at Nada Citadel. Wowed by the city, at its sheer size, he never the less was ready to challenge this leader, his last hurdle before the Elite four themselves. Of course, he wasn’t going to lose again. With a month of training once more under his belt, he challenged the leader. Still, even after this training, the battle was nearly lost, before a lucky move brought about a stunning victory.
A celebration was in order, of course, and the quintet decided the best way to celebrate the ending of the gyms was to not do anything at all for a month. They had enough food with them, and cash too, and just relaxed, exploring the city. Allie managed to push upon him to take a martial arts course, and that was about the only form of exercise he had, beyond running around the town seeing the sights. Still, when the month ended, Reid decided it was time to really get to work. He’d barely won, and the Elite four were even tougher than that gym leader. So, he ended up going on a mapping trip for a while, mapping around the area. During this trip, they worked constantly on getting better, even himself, since Allie forced it upon him to train with them.
This mapping time was about four months long, but then they went back into the city, and started to work there. Reid got his job, rejoined his class, and worked with his pokemon and other trainers. There were a lot of good trainers around, and they helped pass the six months he spent there well. By this time he had a working knowledge of self defense, his pokemon had grown stronger, and he figured why not try the elite four. At least he could use it as a scouting run, to see how well he’d worked.
So, a month after he turned 24, he headed off towards the Elite four. Still mapping all the way, he arrived in about a month where he wanted to go, and then entered the place. He was defeated by the third member in line. Reid was shocked at how simply powerful they were, even the first two had been a harsh fight. There was only one thing he could do. Flying back to Nada Citadel, he committed himself to bettering everything about his battiling. Strategy, battiling, move use, everything he could think of was worked and worked over again, while he committed himself to growing stronger as well.
A year passed, easily, as he trained, eventually confident he could do it. He’d turned twenty five a while ago, and set out to fight the Elite four once more. This time, he beat the Elite four. It was hard fought, but he beat them. Then, of course, he faced the champion. All his training had came down to this one battle, and it was intense. Every move was followed by another, but in the end, it came down to him and Seriyah. He always felt it would end like this, him and Seriyah fighting the champion for the spot at Remoor glory, but what he didn’t think would happen was that he would lose. It was close, but this time, he was on the wrong end of that lucky hit. Seriyah fought valiantly, but, in the end, it was too much, and she fainted, unable to fight further.
After going back to heal them, they thought, and decided that they had to give it some time. They had done their best, trained as much as they could, and had beaten the elite four. Even if they had lost to the champion, how many other trainers had came this far? The group decided it would be best to take a break, and they did just that, committing themselves to finding out where those feathers had came from. Mapping the area’s he’d missed, he decided to head home and talk to his family in person, when the war broke out.
Since he was prone to living in the wilderness, he missed the beginnings of it, even going so far as to make it to Barkwish, which was, sadly, in ruins. He had no idea what had happened, shocked, but the people who were still there, said most had fled to Nada Citadel. Holding onto that hope, Reid flew to Nada Citadel, looking over remoor to see the true extent of the damage. They’d already laid to waste many parts of Remoor, and more were falling the entire time. The fighting forces, swarms of pokemon fighting trainers with pokemon, were fierce, and seemingly the forces were matched well, even if the other side gave most ground.
Upon arriving in Nada, he learned what was going on. Mewtwo’s army of clones was on the attack, and was being fought off by a group known as Pravus. They were advising everyone to stay in Nada Citadel, as the most defendable position they had. Reid considered joining this Pravus, as they seemed to at least be mounting a defense, when he heard stories about them. They definitely weren’t the angels Reid pictured them as, and this tore him. They were doing the right thing, but should he join? They seemed to have a horrible reputation.
Sixth months into things, and all hell was lose in Nada. Law was at an all time low, most people out fighting the clones, and Allie was forcing him to train daily, if only because of the stories of stabbings and back street murders were scaring her. Still, he hadn’t decided to join or not, mainly trying to stay out of everyone’s way, when he heard of another group. They were called Rangers, and they were supposedly on the right side of things. They were new, but Reid was sure they were the guys to join up with.
Joining them, he soon rose to the higher ranks, becoming a Beast Wrangler as they were called. They started to exert their force, defending towns and attacking the clones, who by now were tired from the offensive. Eventually, the powers that be had managed to call for a cease-fire. As the dust finally settled over remoor, people realized just how bad things were around here. Land was destroyed, people were dead, and almost every town was gone.
A month or so into this ceasefire, the leader of the Rangers disappeared. He vanished into the fold, leaving a note promoting Reid to the top spot. Surprised, but in no way unhappy, he accepted this spot, at the age of 27. This time was rather uneventful, as each side was busy licking their wounds and preparing for the next assult. When it came, it was definitely not what either side expected.
No, this force was in actuality an altogether new threat, known only as Destinae. Destinae was a mean sucker, and his goal was not just the destruction of man, but the destruction of everything. All things were to be sucked into the void and destroyed, at least if he got his way. Reid of course, was busy doing damage control, helping out the people who had by that time started to trickle out and ,move places, as well as the town of Barkwish, which had been ignored after the first assault on it.
Then the things came. These beasts were creatures created from the void, and unlike humans, were not actually living. They were crude imitations of life, but they did their job of spreading horror and death well. Reid had to fight a few of these things, and the scars on his face are proof that they were not normal. Still, as most people were back in Nada, he was returning back to the ranger base, when he was ambushed.
The void had appeared out of nowhere, spilling out the evil unown with it, making him immediately on the defensive. Strong as they were, things were not going well, as there were simply too many, when part of their line broke. Pushing though, they were running away, towards the water where they seemed to be far less of them, when something emerged. It was a horrific being, seemingly climbing out of the depths of the ocean itself, to attack their poor party.
Still, their group was not to end there. The being was slow, and Reid was not. All of them attacked, beating it back, and nearly knocking it back down off the cliffs into the ocean, when it finished its last devilry. They nearly had it falling, where it would end up falling back into the void, its undoing, when it grabbed Seriyah. As it fell, it held tight to the Kortano, and it fell into the ocean, sucking itself and Seriyah into the void.
Reid just stared. While his own pokemon grabbed him, and took him away, he just seemed to shut down. He couldn’t think, one thought just repeating over and over in his head “This isn’t happening. Its all a lie, a dream. This is fake.” It didn’t really hit him too, for quite some time, he just insisted that she was coming back, and continued to fight Destinae. When the beast was undone, by the power of Arceus itself, the things that had been lost in the void reappeared. The first thing Reid did was of course, was to try and visit the spot where Seriyah had been sucked in.
Unfortunately, he was delayed by the fact that he was asleep when the void had been erased. Constant days of wakefulness, and hunting out things had taken their toll, and he’d basically passed out in his bed. By the time he woke up, he had to deal with the stragglers, who were lost and confused. By the time he made it to the cliffs, there was no sight of her. Still, he wasn’t concerned, she was likely just at the base, it had been a while.
A few days passed, and nothing happened. She was no where to be seen, but Reid was sure she’d show up. After a week passed, doubt started to creep in. She had to have came back by now. She had to. The second week sealed her fate. She would have been back by now, and though he refused to admit it, he knew she was gone. After accepting that, life seemed impossible. Seriyah had taken him though everything, saved his life, made him laugh, and fought for him. Thirteen years of his life he’d spent with her, and she was gone. Just like that. For about two days, he refused to leave his bed, to drink, to eat, to do anything.
What point was there to living, if people could be taken away just like that? His closest friend had been ripped away from him, by careless heartless people, who only wanted power. What point was there in fighting them? What point was there in doing anything anymore? He became severely dehydrated by the fourth day, and delirious. By then, Allie jumped on the chance, and got him to a hospital, where they hooked him to an iv drip, and managed to saved him. They then gave him some anti depressants, which managed to get him eating, and restored his strength.
It was ternac that brought him out of his funk, however, to everyone’s surprise. Seeing him like this, Ternac couldn’t take it. This was wrong, and convinced him more than ever that there was a point to living. Gone went the depressed Pokémon, replaced by the old, mischievous Magician Ternac. His first act, he said, was to convince Reid that what he was doing was not a good idea. Of course, this was serious, but with how he dealt with it, Reid couldn’t help but feel better. Still, life didn’t seem any more joyful, just less intolerable. They flew him back, after he got discharged, and he was walking into the base.
That’s when he was thwacked in the shoulder by a rock. Wincing in pain, he turned, only to get hit again. Allie looking at him, throwing a rock up and down in the air and said “I guess you have gotten sloppy. I haven’t hit you twice in a row for a long time.” She then threw another rock at him, which hit painfully on his arm. “Well? You just going to stand there?” And threw another rock.
“Stop it.” He said, though she didn’t, dodging more of the rocks as they flew, harder now as he rolled, wincing in pain as a few missiles hit his arms and legs, but eventually she ran out, while Reid smiled slightly. She then grinned, and said that didn’t he feel better?
That made Reid think, maybe she had a point. He did feel a bit better now. Then an extra thwack hit his shoulder, and she said “you know, I’m starting that up again. You’ve gotten far too soft lately.”
