Well, here we go. They're going to have their first kiss. They grow up so fast! XD Anyways, long post...Have to edit it later.
Cody stood, his eyes fixed on his reflection in the mirror. Unlike his usual attire, which consisted of black white and other dark colors of the spectrum, he’d somehow managed to find a striped green and white shirt -- Rocket thought it looked nice -- as well as a nice pair of faded wash jeans. His scar peeked out from the shirt, more noticeable now than he would have preferred; he couldn’t do anything about it, though. The mark was a permanent reminder of what happened many years ago, but that was the past. What was happening now hadn’t happened in a while. Cody was going on a date.
It wasn’t just any date. It was the date, the date when he would seal the deal with a kiss, and frankly, Cody was nervous. The actual kissing didn’t make him, but what came with it did. Furoi and him had been hanging out for a while now, maybe two months or so…as friends, nonetheless -- or at least he thought. Then it all changed. He’d found himself leaning closer to her when they were around each other, smiled at her jokes and found his heart racing at the prospect of seeing her to just “hang out”.
When he’d first met her those few months ago in Lesterfield -- yeah, he was attracted to her, but it was more to her looks than to anything else. He hadn’t really known her. She’d taken him back to her center, treated him with such genuine hospitality he decided to get to know her as a friend first. Now Furoi and him were tapping into the other side of their developing relationship, though he wasn’t exactly sure what this meant.
“Is it love?” Cody would ask his Pokemon, a solemn expression etched across his generally glowing face. He had nothing else to call it than that: love. It was such an ambiguous term to him. A few times before even thinking about Furoi as anything more than a friend, there were other woman. He would tell them he loved them, never truly meaning it. He wanted to think of Furoi like that, just not now -- it was too soon. So staying in the safe, kissing, maybe even possible dating zone was good for him now.
And that was just what he was going to do. He was going to meet her at the park, talk to her, get her comfortable, and hopefully land a kiss for the night. He wanted nothing more than that, to feel the sweet connection between him and Furoi, knowing that it was clearly there. It had been a while, yeah, and there were butterflies pushing him towards puking in the closest toilet to empty his stomach, yet he wouldn’t. It was a amazing feeling that made him feel alive.
So as he continued inspecting himself, brushing a few pieces of errant, stubborn hair out of his face, his blank expression was replaced with a determined smile. “I’m Cody Ronaldson, I can do this. She’s Furoi, she’s…Ugh! Rocket! She’s Furoi, I can’t do this!” Cody shouted, stomping his foot against the ground.
Rocket bolted into the room, her eyes ablaze. Oops, he’d woken her from a nap again; he’d forgotten she’d even fallen asleep. “What is your problem now, asswad?” she hissed, her teeth bared. Well, that was new. He knew now never to wake her up again; she just got worse every time he did it.
Her face softened then. A sweet, indisputable smile lined her lips in suit after she took a good look at Cody’s face. “Furoi? Your…uh -- you’re going to kiss her today, aren’t you?”
His eyes flashed towards his feet, crimson burning his cheeks. “Yeah. The jitters, though…God, it has to stop,” he answered, his eyes returning to his reflection. His finger traced his scar slowly, tentatively. “She’s never seen it before, what if she’s repulsed by it?”
Rocket laughed a soft, melodic laugh. Cody’s eyes shifted towards her sparking arms, his mouth opened, and he laughed. “Cody, this is normal. You like the girl, duh! Why else would you have asked her out? Because she smells good…no. You really do like her…,” Rocket stepped forward, looking at her trainer in the mirror from behind him. He was still tracing the start of his scar almost involuntarily. “As for your scar, it’s fine. You’re putting yourself out there in the world, you’re bound to get a little beat up on the way. Maybe she wont notice it.”
Cody’s mouth opened, only to close. He cleared his throat then, pivoted on the heel and faced the yellow Pokemon. “Or maybe I should change. I always wear shirts that cover it around other people --”
“No. You look nice, keep it. You should dress like this more often, I’m sure Furoi will like it as much as I do,” Rocket admitted. Her voice was so…sincere? This was new to him, a little out of character even.
“Rocket, you’re scaring me,” Cody muttered softly.
“Why?”
“Because…You’re not --”
“Nice?” she asked, earning a swift nod out of Cody. “I’m joking half the time. You really do look nice, I mean it. So don’t be nervous.”
The Pokemon walked towards the door to Cody’s bedroom, not even bothering to look over her shoulder. Cody reached out to touch her, although she was already a bit too far. Instead, he spoke: “Rocket.”
“Yeah?” Came a voice a bit further away now.
“Thank you.”
“Mhm…”
-x-
Cody’s eyes once again darted towards his watch: seven-thirty. He had a half hour, exactly thirty minutes, until Furoi arrived to meet him for their date. With each passing of the second, each tick of the clocks methodical, slow movements, Cody grew all the more anxious. He just wanted to see her face, feel her soft hair sift through his fingers as he lifted it, and press his warm, supple lips against hers so softly she’d be sure it never happened.
There was one problem, Furoi wasn’t there yet. “Blaze, Rocket…What do I do? Should I get her flowers or something?” He wondered. “Does she even like flowers? Shit. I’m going to mess this up! I know absolutely nothing about her! It’s the sign of the apocalypse! We’re not meant to be, I should give up while I’m ahead.”
Blaze looked to Rocket, his eyes widened. “He’s been like this all night,” she supplied, her head dipping softly.
Blaze snorted, plumes of smoke billowing from his nostrils. “Buy her flowers, Cody. Girls always like flowers, don’t they, Rocket?”
Rocket’s eyes narrowed. “Do I look like I would know? I’m a Pokemon, you git.”
“Guys, stop! This is an emergency! Furoi is coming soon and I don’t even know if she likes flowers! What if she doesn’t, I buy them…and am out of my kissy-smooch time for the night? Huh? Would you really deprive Cody of his happiness?” Cody exclaimed dramatically.
Both Pokemon looked at Cody confusedly. He really was so much different when nervous about something as important as a date such as this one. It was pretty cute, they had to admit. So both Pokemon made their way over to Cody and wrapped him in a tight embrace that could most definitely pass as suffocating someone. And when he coughed and wheezed from under their grasp, their smiles grew wider.
“Gerroffme!” Cody shouted, falling into a coughing fit.
“You’re growing up, Cody!” Blaze kidded.
“I’m twenty-one! I can friggen’ drink if I want to!” he retorted, his arms crossed.
Rocket wasn’t paying attention at that point, however. Her eyes had shifted towards something more vital to the situation they were in: the time. While the three had been in their little moment of bliss, the clock had ticked away to seven-fourty-five. Instead of having a half-hour, Cody’s time was quickly dwindling away before his eyes. She didn’t even have to tell him that either, he had already darted towards a local flower stand, money in hand.
After purchasing a few red roses, Cody walked back over to his two Pokemon, his eyes searching around the dark park. The grass around them was dewy, yet sparkled in the dim light emanating from the lamp posts around them. There was something magical about the way the ground was illuminated, and hopefully it presented some sort of luck for the night.
“Shooshooshoo! Go to a restaurant, Furoi should be here! I don’t want you two goofs to be here when she comes! So shoo!” Cody whispered through clenched teeth, hand tapping stubbornly at his watch.
The two Pokemon dipped their heads in understanding and walked off without any further questioning. Now alone, Cody whistled a soft tune to himself, a grin plastering itself along his face. The nerves he had earlier were still churning in the pit of his stomach, lesser now, but still there nonetheless. Only a little longer. A little longer and Furoi would appear before his eyes, most likely followed by her Pokemon. And when she arrived, well, the night would start from that point on.
He’d opened the page to the book, had yet to reach the rising action, and knew the ending... [/blockquote]

She was sitting on a horribly uncomfortable stone bench, overlooking the park. Her eyes were glued to the sidewalk, watching couples of pedestrians to spend an evening in the park, like she was supposed to be doing now. However, the butterflies in her stomach made her feel like she was too heavy to move, let alone to look up at the people passing by. To her, being nervous for a date was totally pathetic, even if it was her first. People like her were not the type of person that could get nervous, she thought, but ever since she and Cody started hanging out her emotions went into a tailspin. Furoi nervously put her hands into her black denim shorts hoping that she didn’t get any spores on her dusty orange tee which had black wings painted on the back of it, an outfit that she hadn’t worn in a long time.
It all started a couple months ago, when she decided it would be nice to hang out at Lesterfield for a while. She had seen Cody sitting by himself, all miserable from some kind of sickness ”heh, he thought it was allergies…” and the rest was history. They started hanging out (much to Shii’s opposition, he couldn’t stand the ‘white haired pretty boy), and she saw how funny he was, and how happy she was around him. That was a big deal in itself- the last time Furoi had a human friend was eight years ago in Saffron.
However, soon enough, she started having very confusing feelings about him- like she wished that they were something more. That’s what scared her- Furoi had never felt that way with anyone else. Furoi tried her hardest to hide it from, well, everyone, especially Cody. She didn’t want things to be awkward or creepy between them- which was hard enough with Shii fastening pictures of Cody’s face to a dartboard, but with Veni being a Kirlia, the rest of the team (aside from Shii, of course) seemed to interrogate him about her little feelings of love.
”and now he asked me out. Cody didn’t find out, right? Maybe we’re just going to hang out like we always do. Just out of the ranger base. At night. Gah, what am I saying, I should just turn around and go back before I make a fool of myself…
“Oi, are we just gonna sit here all night? I thought we were goin’ to the casino,” Huck whined, nudging Furoi with his mushroom shaped head. The shroomish was accompanied with all of Furoi’s team minus Shii and Kera, but that didn’t make them any less in Furoi’s business. “You guys tricked me, yah bastards! I didn’t sign up for this mushy over-sentimental crap.”
“For the last time, Huck, we never said that we were going to there, you put that in your own head,” Astell, the ever so proper Altaria argued, “You could have stayed in the breeding center if you wished.”
“And stay where the Murkrow are guarding their eggs? ARE YOU INSANE?”
Astell smirked, “You’re right, it takes forever to clean off spores, especially when those birds smear a mushroom’s face into the tile.”
Golden spores shot off his body as his temper flared, “Are you accusing me of being a wimp, bird? How about I dirty those precious wings with some poison?”
Furoi tried to open her mouth to try to shut them up, but she couldn’t. Her nerves couldn’t be this bad, could they? No, wait, she couldn’t move at all. Did she breathe in some spores on accident? Oh shit, I’m going to be late. Now I’m frozen. Can people even breathe under paralysis? Oh my god, I’m going to die right here and now. Gah!
Veni grabbed her jaw, spraying liquid from a yellow bottle into her mouth. She choked, gasping for air, while the medicine took effect. “I huff can’t huff go through huff with this!”
Veni’s voice was dry,“You’re welcome, by the way”
“Sorry ‘bout that, lass. Bird was getting on my nerves and well…”
“Oh shh, you. What do you mean you can’t go through with this? You look great, just be yourself and all that.” Astell pushed Huck as far away from her trainer as she could.
Furoi sighed, “What if I say something, I don’t know, too revealing?”
Veni folded his dainty little arms and chuckled, “Well, you sure have plenty of stories that fit under that category.”
“Thanks Ven, I’m feeling a lot better now.”
“No problem, miss”
“pfft”
…
Furoi stood up, limps a little shaky from being paralyzed. It was 7:55, about time for her to make it to the date. She scanned the park, trying to find someone who looked like Cody. “I should get this over with guys, will you be okay without Shii here. Not everyone is friendly and, well, it will suck ass if you guys got taken away from me.”
Veni smiled, “We will be fine, miss. I can sense Cody’s pokemon nearby, so we are going to join them. We just want you to have a good time, miss. Now hurry up, it is rude to be late for a date.” The rest of the team smiled with him.
“Okay, err, see you guys later.” She smiled, readily walking into the park.
The park was beautiful, even more so when she was on the inside. It was hard to walk at a quick pace when the grounds were so distracting with their glow. Furoi didn’t take long to find Cody, standing there, waiting with flowers. She had never gotten flowers before, aside from some poisonous plant that Theo got tired of. She thought the action was sweet, though it made her panic a little on the inside. ”Crap, should have got him something, why didn’t I think of that?
…
”Well, here goes nothing,
“Hey Cody! Over here!” She waved, ready for their night to begin.
Sorry for the lame ending. DX and why it took so long.

A few steps here and there, back and fourth falling into a specific pattern that matched his throbbing heart. All the anticipation of dates before this one hadn’t even come close to what he was feeling now. All his senses, his thoughts, his actions -- they were all muddled, unable to be distinguished from one another. A heart pulsating in someone’s chest is an involuntary action, something that you cannot change even if you tried, and now as Cody’s heart beat -- well, it was a task in itself. Furoi could easily make it speed up and slow down at the same time, resulting in a stumble or two out of Cody. His feet, following time and time again in their odd pattern looked to be blurs whenever he’d take a quick glance down, as did the world around him. He felt like a druggie who’s world was jumbled together in an indistinct mess of colors searching for his fix, who in this case happened to be Furoi. His hands, which had a bouquet of flowers positioned in them trembled vigorously; if he had been near a random civilian he would appear to simply be cold, though that was far from the truth. In all reality, Cody was nervous, something he wasn’t accustomed to.
With everyone else, such as Skie, whom happened to be his best friend back at base, he didn’t worry about what he looked like or what he smelt like. With Furoi, he awoke feeling as though he had to impress her. He dressed differently, trying his hardest here and there to wear what her favorite colors were, which went against his usual messy attire. As for his appearance, Cody would sometimes take two showers before seeing her, just to be sure he looked clean enough -- something unusual being that him and his Charizard always enjoy dirtying themselves up in the woods -- as well as presentable in her eyes. He knew he shouldn’t worry so much, aware of the fact that Furoi most likely didn’t care as much as he did, but he just couldn’t not do so. Impressing her had become a part of Cody’s daily ritual and, in truth, he liked, as well as benefited, from it. After all, it had been a while since someone even tugged the smallest bit on his heartstrings; Furoi tugged, pulled and dragged them.
“…More like forcefully ripped it out of my chest…” Cody thought, a soft smile easing itself onto his lips. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of the one person he had been wanting to see all night. The moon shone on her already pale face, danced upon her raven tresses and thrust an ethereal beauty upon her already striking face. “I take that back…” Cody’s smile widened as his once wobbly legs straightened and moved in order to ease him forward towards her. The flowers draped in the crook of his arm rustled with each fluid movement while the corner of his lip twitched excitedly, and soon enough he was parallel to her and beaming like he hadn’t before.
“On my way to the park these flowers fell from heaven…literally,” he told her, extending one of his hands so she could accept his gift to her. With his other hand, he tentatively cupped his hand around hers. His fingers brushed against hers in order to find where they parted without forcefully lacing his fingers with her -- he liked a gentle approach. After all, he wasn’t exactly sure if this was her first date or not, and if it was he didn’t wish for things to be uncomfortable. “You look beautiful, Furoi,” Cody complimented, and finally allowed his fingers to lace with hers.
He moved forwards a bit, while his eyes scanned the area around him. “So, I was thinking…” Cody began, a smirk now lining his lips. “We could go get pizza and then sit on the swings over there” -- he pointed to the small swing set near a few park benches placed sporadically around them -- “Corny, I know. But I’m not very good at these kinds of things, to be completely honest…” his voice trailed off into a soft whisper.
His hand dropped from hers and his fingers slowly wound around a bit of her dark hair. “Well, I haven’t been on a date with anyone in a while, so forgive me if I’m not up to par,” Cody kidded, once again letting his hand brush against hers until his fingers slipped between hers.
“They fit,” Cody thought, then kissed Furoi’s cheek.
…
“Move you fatass!” Rocket thundered -- literally.
The two were seated in Lesterfield’s coffeehouse, a pair of binoculars shrouding Rocket’s eyes so she could clearly see Furoi and Cody’s little romance unfold before their eyes. Blaze, Cody’s loyal Charizard, was perched on top of a chair that somehow managed his weight, struggling to push Rocket out of the way so he could watch as well -- the windows were only so big. One Pokemon head was enough to cover half, well one that was big enough at least.
“I’m trying to see! Rocket, you move your fat head and I’ll move my fatass!” Blaze retorted, snorting.
Rocket’s eyes lowered into angry slits. “Lay off the twinkies and maybe I’ll move my head.”
“Ok -- HEY! The date wont last that long, unless Furoi’s really good at getting what she wants from a -- GUH!” Rocket elbowed him in the ribs to get him to shut up.
“They’re just kids…” Rocket scolded, and focused back on Cody and Furoi. Cody had given her the flowers and was now trying to let his hand form to hers. A smile, something rarely seen on Rocket’s face, let alone lips was plastered just there.
Blaze moved over to the door, glancing out to see if Furoi’s Pokemon were making their way over yet -- both teams were going to spy -- and snarled when he didn’t see anything, or at least anything that the little window on the doorframe would allow. He’d have to do something about that…just not now, he was too busy spying on his best friend and his new interest. “Actually…Cody is twenty-one; he’s of legal drinking age, ya know? Furoi’s eighteen; she’s more of a kid than him.”
“Yes. That is true. But how many girls has Cody even came close to liking as much as Furoi since he came to join the Rangers? Not many. Plus, she’s pretty and cute…Cody’ lucky,” Rocket sniggered. She knew Cody was attractive, though preferred to make fun of him at any given chance he popped into a conversation.
Blaze rolled his eyes and plopped himself down on a chair. “You’re just jealous because you’re a romantic at heart and you wish you were human or something,” Blaze replied, ready for her bitter response.
“You’re right,” Rocket admitted sourly.
“Hn…” Blaze sighed. He had been expecting more from the moody electric-type Pokemon and was displeased now. He had wanted to strike a sensitive chord, but hadn’t gotten anything in a reply. It was always that way: whenever he would try to get Rocket back for being such a nasty thing, she’d always repress her true feelings. “What are they doing?”
The corner of Rocket’s lips twitched. “He just kissed her --”
“EW. I mean…Really!?”
“No. Wait. That was on the cheek. My bad,” Rocket answered, falling into a bout of laughter.
So come on, get higher, loosen my lips Faith and desire in the swing of your hips Just pull me down hard And drown me in love So come on, get higher, loosen my lips Faith and desire in the swing of your hips Just pull me down hard And drown me in love...

Her plan for the longest time was to never get too attached to someone, knowing that they'll get dragged down in her problems. She had used different names when traveling with groups, pretended to be a totally different person. There were times when she overheard conversations on the streets about crushes and heartbreak. Those little text messages dotted with hearts, the uncertain feelings about how one person felt for another, jealousy over a friend's private life. Furoi had seen it all. Shii and her would laugh about how bothersome that would be, running around lovestruck when they had more important things to do. Like roaming around aimlessly through the earth, earning enough money to survive by entering those seedy casinos run by evil teams with secret agendas. Well, that was actually was pathetic way of living, but she tried to make it seem important. Deep down, Furoi was afraid to have those feelings because...well, it was easier to keep things the way they are.
Hnn... Cody messed things up.
He made that little plan that she was living by for the past eight years disappear. She couldn't help it. Even now, when she looked out him, Furoi was paralyzed. It felt like her heart was beating faster and slower at the same time, leaving her in this confusing haze of emotions. He forced that giddy smile to pass her lips even when she was in the worst of moods. Furoi welcomed those nerves and butterflies, even if they made her feel pathetic and stupid most of the time. All that mattered was that they were both happy, a feeling that Cody brought new meaning to.
She tensed when Cody noticed her, hands frozen in her pockets. Furoi did not know why she was messing with her pockets so much, maybe part of her was relying on the vague hope of finding a little present to give to Cody. But soon enough her eyes were fixed on Cody, who was even more striking than usual tonight. ”Maybe it's the shirt... she chuckled softly, letting her arms fall to her sides. Soon that giddy smile gently crossed her face, as all those nerves just seemed to melt away.
Furoi grinned a little wider when he handed the bouquet to her.“I'm sorry, but it looks like heaven forgot to drop an awesome gift for me to give you.” Furoi said softly, staring up at him. She hoped that he didn't notice it, but her face was already a little flushed. Her fingers welcomed his tentative touch, even though her head was spinning. Okay, maybe not all of the nerves have melted away, even more prominent when he complimented her. “You...You look great too.”
That analytical side of her did notice the pink scar tissue on his neck. That side also knew that scars usually had stories that came with them, stories that people usually were ashamed of (but there were always those drunk old guys who bragged about them, but whatever). If Cody didn't want to bring it up, she'll just pretend that she didn't see it. Furoi had stories that she didn't want to relive as well.
She nodded at his suggestions. Honestly, she didn't know much about dates and what you do on them, aside from the overdone dinner and a movie gig. In some weird way, pizza and swingsets actually sounded kind of fun. ”WEll, knowing me, I'll find any thing fun if it isn't 'lets go back into that dark room at the end of the alley. Hurr hurr.' Not that Cody would do that but...'”she knew people who would.
“Well, you're doing miles better than me,” She paused as his fingers found her hair. “this is the first time I've done something like...this.”
and then he kissed her on the cheek. If she wasn't blushing before, she was definitely doing it now. She gripped his had a little tighter, but not so much where it hurt- she wanted them to be there. Of course, she was at a loss for words, she didn't really know what to do. “Race yah to the pizza place?” -x-
“Watch the landing. If you claw into someone's head, the girl is gunna kill you,” Huck Seed barked from Astell's back, as they hovered over the pavement near Lesterfield. Veni ignored the two like he always did, eyes tranfixed on the park. He found this whole relationship very amusing especially because he could feel and see almost everything his trainer could.
For some reason, he had a feeling that this was going to be taken advantage of tonight.
“I hope she'll be okay,” Astell wondered absently, gently landing in front of the coffeehouse's doorstep “And, for your information, I have been flying for eight years without a single accident.”
“That means yur due,” Huck huffed, hopping off the dragon bird...thing. He didn't know what she was. “This place has small windows, you know. How are we gunna spy out of these?”
Her beady eyes flicked to Veni. “We'll find a way. Besides, all that matters is that this goes well. We don't need to see all of it.” She pushed the doorknob with her wing, gesturing to allow the smaller two through. “You may not know, but Veni and I agree that Furoi hasn't been this happy in a long time. It would be depressing for me if she looses that.”
“Yet you guys don't let her most trusted pokemon in on it...” Huck mumbled, waddling over to where Rocket and Blaze were. Of course Cody had to have two pokemon that could easily crush the little mushroom, harming his little ego even more. “Oi! You two gits! What's been goin' on so far!”
Astell rolled her eyes at the Shroomish's comment, but her face brightened when a kiss was mention, “Omigosh, really? Sorry that we were late, by the way. Don't mind Huck, he's just the cranky new guy.”
“Don't mind the cranky new guy find'n a place to barf.” Huck mumbled, wobbling deeper into the coffee shop.
Of course, Veni was shunning everyone with his cold indifference, already finding a seat to do so. But he couldn't he resist the urge to smile because he knew, whatever they were doing, she was happy and that made him feel great.
[Woah. It's like, almost 4 am, I should be getting up in...two hours. Oh well, I wanted to get this post out for you before I left. :3 Hope it isn't as terrible as the first one. I'm not very good at picking songs for this sort of thing but, I was listening to Rose and Butterflies by Making April when writing this. I'm not sure that fits, but the song is very pretty. <3]

_____It's like twisted sister. ____Meets Mr. Mister. ___It's like a rolling thunder, meets a careless whisper. __It's like Jesus Jones and the Rolling Stones in a game of Twister. _It's like boy meets girl.
Cody’s thoughts whirred around in an uneasy manner. With much difficulty, he finally found it in himself to focus, only to realize the only reason he could form a coherent thought now was because Furoi had put him at ease. Most, unlike Cody, would more than likely feel all the more nervous when their loved one waltzed right up to them--or the other way around in this case--while Cody felt as if he could easily run a marathon without breaking a sweat. Generally it would be a almost impossible task for the man, but not now…not now. With Furoi beside him, he was convinced he could complete even the most rigorous of feats.
To say that Furoi was his and only his would be selfish--blasphemy even. There was a chance that their date would go with no avail, leaving them wondering as to why they even wished to take part in trying something new, such as allowing their blossoming romance to flourish all the mind. And then there was the possibility of a favorable outcome, in which the two would decide to further their relationship. Cody hoped it was the latter of the two, for he didn’t wish for any other guys to look in Furoi’s direction. He would never admit he was envious, of course--that would be embarrassing. Not many enjoyed a boyfriend with a jealous green monster either, so he would keep it to himself. It was just so hard…so hard. Furoi was beautiful after all; anyone with eyes could see her unmistakable radiance.
“It’s my job as…” Cody paused, unsure of what he should call himself. Was he her friend? Or was he more. It was all so unclear. He figured he would find out later and cleared his throat. “J-just don’t worry about it. Beautiful flowers for the beautiful lady,” he assured her, flashing her one of his signature cheesy smiles.
Furoi went on to compliment on how he looked. Rocket had told him he looked presentable before, he just didn’t believe her. Actually, he didn’t believe much that came out of her mouth; most of it was either atrocious or just plain out wrong. Today the Pokemon had shown a moment of sincerity, and he knew that later on she would be back to her old ways. He still yearned for her to remain as such, nonetheless. However, he yearned more for her to return to her old ways; hearing her nasty remarks was becoming more and more redundant as she laid them on him profusely day in and day out.
“You really think so? Rocket said she liked the way I looked, shocking I know, and I really thought she was lying. But…I do take your word, always,” Cody replied, his fingers still entwined with hers. He did notice the fact that Furoi had glanced at his scar, if only for a moment and wondered whether it was a good idea to start their relationship off with angst. He was going to tell her, he just wanted today to be happy. It was going to be the turning point in their relationship, that had been decided already.
Their touch was like fire, scorching everything in its way, but Cody wouldn’t change it for the world. He truly did like the connection he felt with her, it was unlike anything before and had happened so quickly. He could easily recall the day they met as if it were yesterday, even if that wasn’t the case. Time flew by and eased in a new sense of endearment towards the girl--a new welcome endearment.
“It’s your first time on a date? I really would have never guessed that. Honestly, when I first met you in Lesterfield, I was flustered. I’m never like that, I swear to you.” He felt her grip grow a little tighter around his hand and smiled. “And I figured if I saw you as a beautiful girl, other guys did as well. So I guess I have a confession: I never would have thought you would say yes to this…with me. I had been expecting rejection.”
Now that that was out in the open, Cody could start goofing around with Furoi. And when she offered to race him to the pizza place, a smirk lined his thin lips. “C’mere you,” he laughed, and swooped her up into his arms. Hn, don’t want her…uh…feet to hurt, do I? Cody thought as he walked along the grass and stepped onto sidewalk when he reached it.
As soon as he placed Furoi back onto the ground, his hand found hers. “Well, what kind of pizza do you like?” he asked. With one swift movement the door to the pizza place was opened, waiting for them to step inside.
…
Rocket glared at nothing in particular as Furoi’s Pokemon thundered into the little shop--literally. While she and Blaze were rather large, the same could not be said for Furoi’s--well, for Huck. With one foot, Blaze could probably crush the thing into a pie, or something of that matter…Not that he would. Heh. Well, maybe he would--if he were bored, of course. But that was besides the point. The date was starting, and both teams had front row seats to see the show begin.
“Not much has happened. Cody is totally flustered,” Rocket smiled over at Astell. Finally, another girl to talk to. “And we all know that Cody is never really flustered and or hesitant, which he is now. I think it’s due to the fact that he’s not sure if Furoi has ever been on a date or not. It’s actually really cute. Here, Astell, you can sit in front. Oh and it was just on the cheek…and as for lateness, no problem.”
Blaze leaned towards Huck--who was probably throwing up, he wasn’t sure--and Veni. “And when I ask to watch, she just calls me a fatass and tells me I need to lay off the twinkies. What is this?”
“Shut up, Blaze,” Rocket snapped. “Cody and Furoi are just too sweet. And seeing him like this it--”
“Makes me want to throw up my dinner because it makes you all smiley,” Blaze finished, and snorted. “Twenty bucks says he chickens out when he goes to kiss her, who’s game?” ..... .... ... .. . .. ... .... .....{{Crappy postt. D: I'm sorry for it, lol. Actually, I'm sorry you have to read it. I think I've lost it for the time being after being all inactive because of my parents. Buuutt, I did enjoy your post. Furoi's so cute and innocent...Meh, Cody's gonna have fun with her. And as for his scars, Furoi can pop it into their conversation, but I do have an idea for plottage with that--which I'll tell you about when you get back--and I want this thread to be happy, too. As for the song, I loved it. :3 Here's a fun one for these two XD: Boy Meets Girl.}}

Furoi raised an eyebrow at Cody's unfinished thought. Was was he going to say. It didn't matter, she had a feeling that later that night. Her hand cupped one of the flowers, rubbing tow of her fingers. Furoi smirked when Cody tried to come up with a cute little compliment, flashing that signature cheesy smile. She'd be lying if she said that she thought that smile wasn't cute.
“A, well, it's still very sweet,” she said, letting her free hand fall to the side. Her body was less rigid than before; nerves slowly disappeared easing her back into someone who looked a little bit more natural instead of blushing mess. Being with him made her feel safe, relaxed- even in a stressful situation like the first date. It was hard to describe how she felt when he was around. For a self-proclaimed expert on reading faces, it irritated her at first to not be able to put those feelings into words. Astell and Veni would laugh when she complained to them about that months earlier, which she promptly countered by throwing a pillow at them.
Her mind was running in circles back then- Furoi felt like she would melt in his presence. Even now, that feeling existed. It comforted her to know that he had shared some of the feelings, otherwise, why would they even be here. But that comfort only lasted so far, as she could almost hear Shii's snippy comments, saying how he “dumb broads like you before”. Not that she believed every word that ghost said (especially when they came with back handed insults), but the doubt still lingered. Furoi hoped that Cody really did feel the same way because, simply put, it felt like nothing could go wrong when Cody was around, he just made things better. A whole lot better. A rare feeling for her, that was. Furoi hoped, prayed even, that he had shared those feelings, for she probably couldn't handle being around him, knowing that he would never be hers.
Furoi bit her lip, distracting herself from those nasty thoughts. Thinking the worst, already? Shame on me. She focused back on Cody, smiling a little wider when he mentioned Rocket. “I could see her saying that...” Furoi replied, sounding slightly absent, thinking of her own team. Her pokemon were all over the whole date thing- other than Shii, who was blissfully unaware- especially Astell, who nearly tore the breeding center apart trying to find the single black dress that hid in the breeder's arsenal. That would have been more than a little awkward, to say the least; Furoi was glad that Veni was sneaky enough to hide that dress far far away.
Her head was silent of thoughts, listening to Cody again. Bringing up Lesterfield, how he had been flustered then. Furoi had a hard time believing she was talking to the same person from then, thinking of that Cody who could barely think straight. She really didn't think much about meeting him back then, other than that he had a strange ability to make her smile and laugh. How he made her feel later on, was, well... different. She started to love him- and that scared her. She was afraid of what seemed to her as an obvious rejection, since they were just friends, of course. And Furoi was smart enough to know that dropping that bomb can be friendship-wrecking. The idea of saying something like possibly putting a permanent wedge in between them terrified her the most. So when Cody said that he was feeling the same way, that he thought she would have rejected him wasn't expected.
A soft laugh escaped her. “Ah...that's nice to know,” she whispered, “but, I'd never...never say no to you.” Furoi swallowed, a serene smile passing her lips. The doubt was gone, making her feel genuinely happy; she was ready to finally spend the evening with him without any fear. She was a little puzzled when he smirked at her little offer to race. She opened her mouth to say something, but Cody already had her up in his arms in such a quick motion that she didn't know what was going on.
Furoi giggled, kicking her feet back and forth (though she was sure that she didn't hit Cody). Furoi pulled up her head to look at Cody with a smirk. The blood's rushing to my head or something, I swear. She glanced up at the glass ceiling that covered Nada. It was too dusty and water stained to see stars through it. Ah well, the moon was still bright enough to see. It was beautiful too, for when the moonlight struck the glass, it seemed to fill the city with a bluish glow.
Once her feet found the ground once again, she was happy to feel his hand interlocked with hers once again. Cody asked her what kind of pizza she liked, which she responded almost immediately. “I'm not picky, I'll eat anything.” Furoi stepped into the pizza place, catching a wiff of the anchovy(or the pokemon equivalent? :<) topped pizza that was being served nearby. “Err, actually scratch that. I'll eat anything except anchovies.” Nasty little buggers, those were.
…
The Shroomish's eyes narrowed, carefully eying Blaze's foot. Yeah, it better not get to close, or else that fat dragon will have to deal with the wrath of that couple and possibly Shii (but he'd probably just want to fight him anyway, knowing that ghost) if he were squished. But then, Huck would have blown their little spying cover, and as much as he hated being there, it would be whole lot worse if the boss found out he was watching her little date. He guessed it was kind of cute, seeing the boss like this.
But he still made gagging noises because he was man, and manly men do not think sappy little dates are cute. They think they are stupid. Shii himself taught Huck that.
Astell happily took the place in the front of the window, blatantly ignoring Huck and his indecent behavior. “It's still very sweet, seeing both of them like this...” she nodded her head, “as far I know, Furoi hasn't really dated anyone because of-”
Huck gagged once again
“interruptions.” She snapped a glare at the boys who were standing behind her. She peered closely at the window, having a hard time seeing the two of them, fading away to some restaurant in the distance. The bird would have to pry Veni for details later.
The shroomish chuckled at Blaze's comment, tuning his focus to Rocket. He hadn't seen the Ampharos as much as the other pokemon, being the new guy and all, but something seemed different about her. Oh, and since he was in such a good mood, he felt like calling her out on that. “Aren't you supposed to be bitchier than this? I was hoping to hear more than a 'shut up' from the PMS queen.”
Veni felt like he had to do an obligatory face palm. Casino pokemon are insane, he was sure of it. Astell glowered at the mushroom pokemon, who only reacted with an innocent smile.
“I'll give you forty if he pukes or somethin'”
Charming, isn't he?
((OOC: Nah, I thought it was adorable. This one is crap, AND it's uber late -guilt-. Gah. I suck. And I was listening to the radio while posting this, so really don't have lyrics. ((Unless you want to hear a stupid song about peaches XD)) But yeah, we need to plot about the drama stuff later. >D 'Cause that will be fun. And lol rude shroomish is rude.))

{{My muse is all out of whack at the moment, which I blame all the stress in my life on. xD Took me a long time as it is, and the drama definitely didn't help me in finishing it either.}}
Cody shrugged at Furoi’s statement. “You might think you could see her saying that, but I’m pretty sure she wants something. Generally when she’s sweet, she’s really trying to sucker me out of something. Like my money for instance. Just the other day we played down at the Casino, right? I really am unlucky as it is, so when I won a hundred dollars, guess who took it? Rocket,” Cody ground his teeth together playfully, truly not angry over something that happened a few days prior and continued, “She acted all sweet the whole night, saying she’d do my laundry and clean up my room when we got back to base--and then she snatched my money. Pick pocketed it really. I haven’t seen anybody pick pocket anything since I played Fallout three the other day, and that’s besides the point.”
Cody released an exasperated sigh and glanced all around him. The sky, while a dark shade of raven at this point, was dotted with numerous, yet, beautiful constellations. Though he didn’t know any of the names, an unsettling sense of guilt riled up and replaced the mirth building in the pit of his stomach. He knew--regretfully, of course--that somewhere in the distance his sister, Calista, was watching. They had always watched the stars glitter in the sky at night ever since they were little, and it bothered him to know that just around a year ago their what he had thought to be close relationship had ended, only to be replaced with unchangeable hostility and animosity towards the other. His eyes shifted then towards the moon that cast a glow upon Furoi’s paler features, eyes glinting when locking in on it. His mother had always told him one thing as a child, though a smile appeared for a first time then.
The slow process in rubbing soft circles in Furoi’s hand halted as he opened his mouth to speak. “You know it’s said to be good luck…being with the one you really care about while under the moon, such as we are now? My parents met on a day like today, and have been in love ever since. I just think it’s ironic. But then again, maybe a little luck is what everyone needs now and again…” he told her, his voice trailing off into the distance like hers had. Like he had said before, he was unlucky--in more ways than one; however, he’d always replaced the bothersome, uncanny, and unwanted innate characteristic with humor.
All seriousness played across Cody’s features as Furoi whispered her reply. “As I told you earlier: I haven’t done this in a while. You know. The whole dating thing. And it’s hard, because it’s different this time,” Cody muttered softly, eyes locking with hers. “It’s really stupid to say it’s different, yet, it is. I wake up in the morning and actually care about what I look like, think over what I say…and still look and sound like--well, me. Even now I’m not making sense. I think what I’m trying to say is…in caring about you so much, I want you to be happy with me, which I hope you are. If not, why else would we be standing here? Nng. I’ll shut up now.”
----
Cody had always imagined what it would feel like holding Furoi so close to him, especially carrying her close to him. What he hadn’t imagined was her kicking and flailing in his arms, even if it was meant to be playful, and he strangely found it adorable. Adorable enough to press a sheepish kiss to her already blush covered cheek as he set her back down on the grass below them that had been tinted wondrously with a hint of blue. Beauty surrounded Cody tonight, and he wasn’t complaining.
“I like me a girl with an appetite,” Cody chuckled, stepping inside after her and closing the door behind him. “But I do agree with you: that is just disgusting,” he finished, pointing to the anchovy covered pizza seated delicately on a dish in the glass window. His laughter continued until the two were greeted by a hostess whose shirt was unbuttoned one too many times and an attitude that was most predictable.
“Hey you little loves! Follow me!”
Cody always disliked girls like the hostess--the ones who liked to hookup with the whole football team and cheer around in skirts that barely passed their butts--and this one was no exception. Actually, she was the rule--the rule for all girls like herself. Once an attention whore, always an attention whore. And “Melanie” wasn’t changing Cody’s resounding conclusion of her with her bosom hanging out of her shirt ever so unpleasantly. Women and their self respect seemed to have lowered since he had been her age-- which was the same of Furoi now.
“What can I get you two to drink? Might I say Hun, you look so hot!” Melanie cooed loudly, loud enough to make Cody’s ears ring.
Mouthing out a simple “sorry” to Furoi, Cody answered the hostess: “I’ll just have a…err, Pepsi. How about you Furoi? Oh and I’m realllly in the mood for a caesar salad, want to share?”
----
Rocket’s eye twitched irritably as Furoi’s damned casino Schroomish continued gagging from somewhere within the little shop. Whatever had been keeping her composure all this time ebbed away, while something inside her snapped. Sure her Cody dating someone pleased her tremendously, even if she did antagonize him on a daily basis, but Huck--well, Huck was pushing her closer and closer to her breaking point with his clear feigned sickness. Men and their pride--swallow it why don’t you?
“Cody hasn’t dated anyone since before his…nng,” Rocket paused, her eyes narrowed in distaste as the Schroomish opened up his mouth to speak. From behind her a loud gasp echoed throughout the room, most likely sounding from Blaze, while from the corner of her eye she caught Veni slap his face. They were right to do so, for Huck had gone too far. If his noisy gagging wasn’t enough to make Rocket want to electrocute his ass, his comment was.
“PMS queen?” Rocket asked, turning away from the window.
Blaze closed his eyes and he, too, slapped himself in the face. Self mutilation seemed to be a big hit for the day! “You’ve done it now, Huck. You’ve really pushed your luck--”
“Shut. Up. Asshole.”
Blaze covered his snout with his wings, as if to cower away in fear of Rocket’s impending verbal attack that would most likely not be the most generous--or morally correct--things to be heeded by the ear. If anything the poor, young, casino Pokemon should cover his ears; too bad Schroomish were not gifted with arms and hands until after they evolved. At that thought Blaze almost pitied the Pokemon--almost. His mind changed when Rocket stepped forward, blue sparks jumping from her clawed hands.
“Firstly, your gagging is driving me insane. Secondly, you do not insult the ‘PMS queen’ you ignorant piece of waste. And thirdly, you want bitchier? I’ll give you bitchier,” Rocket bellowed, eyes ablaze. The Ampharos turned away from Huck, only to unexpectedly pivot on the heel and send an aggravated thunderbolt in his direction. “Fucking little noisy ass bugger.”
