"Are you sure about this?" the girl asked the little purple monkey of a Pokemon quietly, her blue gray eyes shifting back and forth over the pleasant looking interior of the Daycare. "I mean...because really, Riley, you don't have to-"
"But I want to!" The little Aipom turned from its spot on the floor a few feet in front of her, breaking its gaze (which had tried to take in every detail of the place in the span of a few seconds)
"..."
The little Aipom was new on the team. Skie felt...she didn't like the idea of leaving her on her own here. So far away from home, too...
The idea of staying in the Daycare--well known for being safe and comfortable, with impressive results in training--came after a few visits to the Ranch. Skie really only came to look around--curious.
They'd stopped into the Daycare to just look around, and Riley (whom Skie had switched with Monty for a while at the time) was instantly interested.
Skie flat out told the young Pokemon "NO." at first, but Riley was ridiculously stubborn. Giving Skie all sorts of reasons;
"It'd be good for me! An adventure!"
"I really really really really wanna go!"
"I'll get stronger--I will, I promise!"
"But I don't want to go back into the PC..."
That last reason was what really got to her. She felt guilty enough, keeping any of her Pokemon 'stored' away somewhere. It made her feel...well. Bad. She'd been used to having all of her Pokemon with her. And when she thought about Baxter, the new Statilee on the team, and Riley...
Gah.
So here she was. In the Daycare center with Riley, Rawk her Aerodactyl safe in her pocket. The big purple dinosaur had flown them over here, and now Skie felt torn again.
She didn't even know these people! And she had...well, fears that something...something would happen. While she was gone. And if something did happen, it'd be all her fault, wouldn't it?
"Skie, it's okay," Riley's voice pulled the girl out of her thoughts. "I'm tough. I'm strong."
Indeed she was. Brave and stubborn, a tomboy to the core--even go as far as to name herself Riley, and refusing Skie to even have a chance at suggesting a name.
She seemed to flex her little purple arms, trying to push her point even further.
"...I'll come back and visit. As much as I can, okay?" Skie started.
"Uh-huh!" Riley nodded, grinning and ecstatic that her trainer was letting her stay.
"If you...if you need anything..anything at all--"
"We'll call you," spoke up a voice. It was the Daycare lady. She smiled warmly at her, nodding. "We'll take good care of your Aipom, and train her up a bit as well."
"Yessss!"
While Riley danced about, Skie nodded to the older woman, comforted a bit.
"Thank you," she said, smiling. "Um, just...yeah." She rubbed the back of her neck, glancing down at the happy little hyper ball of purple fluff. "Riley, don't cause any trouble alright? I'll be back in a week to get you. One week."
"Aw! Just one?"
Skie leveled the little thing with a stare and the Aipom sighed. "Okay...One week."
But still. She was here! Now to prove that stupid Baxter wrong--he thought he was tougher than her, huh?
After a bit of training, she'd show him.
