The school-bus ground to a halt(thankfully for the harried driver), and the doors slowly swung open with a swish. Instantly a wave of teenagers and preteens jostled toward the door. Every last one of them had some kind of large pack on their back, and every last one of their shirts declared their love for one thing-
“POKEMON"
--
A girl in the middle of the line turned her head to glance at out the pane of glass to her right, and her jaw dropped. Beyond the parking lot was a wide expanse of buildings, built in large fields of flowers, and speckled with little ponds. A large white brick building dominated everything though. A simple white banner proudly proclaimed the place’s name to all:
“Pokemon Academy--where masters are crafted! “
Another much smaller banner welcomed the freshmen.
Eventually it was the girls turn to step off the bus, and unlike those confused by the crowds of people, and the sights of the new place she knew exactly where to go. Stepping lightly, whith her backpack slung over her left shoulder she approached a table. Behind which a Jinx (whose lipstick was akin to lavender) was huddled over a sheaf of papers, a array of Pokeballs laid out before her. A crowd of much larger children were currently harassing the psychic type, yelling about their sour luck--and the injustice of being stuck with such Pokemon as Rattata, and Spheals.
With a few mumbled apologies the girl pushed her way through the displeased crowd, and toward the table.
“Excuse me..maam?”
No respond from the Jinx. Raising her voice she tried again:
“EXCUSE ME?”
With a cough the psychic type glanced up, and gestured toward the table, holding out a sheif of papers with the other hand.
‘pick two, and fill out this paperwork.”
With a nod the girl reached toward the table, and hastily pickd up two balls, before moving on.
Outside the crowd she managed to find a empty bench, and plomped down on it. Unzipping her backpack she grabbed a pen and went to work. First her name, then her date of birth, followed soon after by her emergency phone numbers. This done the girl finally arrived at the Pokemon section.
With shaking fingers she picked up both of the orbs, and tossed them to the ground. Seconds later two shapes formed. One the stoutly uilt fighting type--Machop. The other a quadriped water type, made up of scales of blue and orange.
A MUDKIP!
With a squeal of delight the girl dropped to her knees and flung her arms about the pair. The machop rolled his eyes, while his companion let out a equally happy grunt and slammed her forehead into her temporary trainers chest, removing the obstacle from their personal space. Then they spoke….:
“Why hallo there! I’m Sawyer.”
“I’m Samuel--I prefer Sam.”
The Mudkip was obviously female judging by the name alone, and it seemed the Machop was male.
The girl sat back down on the bench, allowing the Pokemon free range of the place. Upon reaching the final box, she quickly wrote in her signature, and stood up.
“Nice to meet you! My names Aubre Anne Mckillan, but call me Aub!--much easier eh?”
By that time the Pokemon had already set off toward the building.
With a smile the girl followed, her shoulder length hair shining , as she ran to keep up.
This was going to be everything she had hoped for--!! Dreams really do come true…
